The emmisions light flashed up on my car for about 10 seconds today and hasnt appeared again. Any idea what this could be caused by and is it still safe to drive, or should I take it straight to renault to get checked out?

My 182 has developed a loud whistle when I accelerate hard, car was behaving normally until I went to ovetake a car this morning and put the power down hard. Now everytime I press the accelerator the whistle starts. Any ideas?
