Just would like some advice on the best engine oil to use for my clio 172. I have 2x5l of halfords silver fully synthetic but I have been told that overall, a good semi is better for this engine. Is fully syn the best for this engine? and what is the best brand you should get?
I think you should just have a look around, for the price of a 1 year old one at the dealers you can afford a brand new one from trade sales or motorpoint and probably still have some money left over. You have nothing to worry about as long as you have warranty and clean Hpi check. If being...
Yeh cruise in britain is a complete waste of time, unless you always drive through the night and there are no morons going 68mph in the fast lane. I have had it on a few cars and normally set it to 85mph as I find that speed fast but not too fast that you have to switch it off cos of traffic or...
I think you should do your homework and learn how it all works. If you want to get ripped off then go to the dealer - simple as that. You will pay at least £1000 more for the car, probably £2000-£3000 on top of the real value of the car, you have to think is it worth it?!?
Its people like you...
It doesnt matter how fast the car is, its how you drive it. You would be fine in a Ferrari as long as you drive it correctly and to the letter of the laws of this country.
Tiff
I know you kind of have to take it to Renault and FRSH is better than FSH, but those prices are a complete joke, to change the oil+filter and air filter for nearly £200?!? Its ridiculous! If it was somewhere like BMW where they do proper inspections, trained technicians etc, I just get the...
Thanks for the remedi, interesting to see that, its amazing what youve done, but as im looking more for a super 1600 replica look rather than an individual customised look I prefer it with the spoiler and vents even though they may be a bit touch and go tastewise.
I have been pretty much...
I could go to 19s I think but I may lower it a bit more instead. My opinion on the wheels has totally changed, at first I didnt like them but now with the centre caps off they kind of resemble btcc wheels and look way better
I would like to put one of those ktec half cages in the back with...
The red on the number plate is inside the plates, would have to get new plates to get rid of it. Yeh will probably get the writing off the windows and may replace it with something else if anyones interested
Yep Ant V6, vunurable is a perfect description of how I felt, but im sure you would get used to it and gain more confidence after having the car for a week or two.
All I can say is enjoy it and have fun!
Agree with many of the points on there, but I reckon 145 is enough for a sports car, I thought Caterhams started at approx 130 bhp for the 1.4 and they still hit 60 is 6 ish seconds. And im sure the 2.2 is abit older than the clio 172 engine I remember them using it in the big people carrier...
Someone said Vauxhalls have the worst reputation of all car manufacturers. Dont forget Rover/MG! Also I am sure the new facelift vx220 is coming out soon. Its not a totally new car, just has new headlights to freshen it up.
If you do buy it remeber its been on sale for around 4-5 years now...
For me there is no question, I would get the cup everytime even though I think the colour sucks
If you are a serious driver and savour everytime you go out then the clio cup is for you. If you arent bothered about that and just want a nippy car to get from a to be then get the 172
People keep saying "clio or vx220 - no contest vx220 everytime"
the vx220 is a great car to imagine yourself in on a nice day blasting down a country road, but in reality, middle of november, freezing, wet, slippy roads, traffic jams etc it becomes less appealing.
Yes its better than a...
Hey there is no brand snobbery from me, I am not saying that renault is far better than vauxhall, im not a massive renault fan at all. Every car manufacturer has their good cars that we all like and the not so good ones. Its just with vauxhall, they havnt actually ever made a good car have they...
yeh I have been looking at some Mos aswell, do you know would I have to buy alloys specifically for renault fitment only - is there any other fitments which fit renaults? Vauxhall?
A mint set of MO 17s in silver with mint tyres just sold for £380 too small though and peugeot/ford fitment :(...
Cheers - will be ringing them next week, havent got round to it, busy filming the new 5th gear series, its got to be around the 500-600quid mark to make it worthwhile as the tyres are £90-140 a shot and Ive got the whole deal with wheelbase for £1100. Ill post the info when I get it on here
still finalising insurance, im driving it 3rd party at the moment so better get it sorted but I HATE calling those insurance call centres and wasting a whole morning trying to sort it. Looking for a quote around a grand.
Havent done anything to it yet, havnt even washed it, think im going to...
For me I would not sell the clio and get a VX220. I test drove a lightening yellow ltd edition a couple of mnths ago and it was really disapointing. I had looked at them for a while and was really keen but it felt so fragile and the build quality was poor all over. It looked good from a...
Believe the engine is totally standard, it was advertised as having approx 190hp - I take it that was taken from the airbox, exhaust system and chip. It doesnt really feel any quicker than the mkII 172 I had a few mnths ago, but it sounds alot better and feels alot tighter and solid. I suppose...
I think all the graphics and sunstrips were mainly for the Max power and catalogue shoots, I do plan to remove them and give it a more smooth look. Spec as follows
Complete respray in bright silver inc engine bay
Prima Racing Maxi V3 Wide Arch Bodyconversion, Maxi Rear Spoiler, Bonnet Vent...
yeh im after the rally style wheels, I know what you mean about the graohics, sunsrtip etc and maybe see what you mean about the air vents as they dont actually do anything! I like the spoiler though. Got it for £7100 - it was advertised on primas website for the last few mnths at £12950! Thanks...
oh right, didnt realise. didnt know every1 thought LAD were bad aswell? What makes you say this? bad service, lack of knowledge?? Paid £7100 for it - and its only done 14k.
i want to make it look less Max Power and more super 1600 racing car just like the silver one in the racing gallery on...
