Having owned both and raced my mates 172,in standard form the st will pull away after 100. In the corners it's all down to the driver. Very evenly matched cars.

hi my mate as a 172 ph1 which is on around 95k,when is the next cambelt change and aux belt.also there is a whilstling noise coming from this area of the engine could this be a pulley or something like that.cheers for any help carl.

i had a go with a trophy when mine was standard and after 100 i pulled away from him, now ive had the dreamscience re-map if the conditions where good i think i would pull away from lower speeds, sayin that i miss the 172 for havin fun in.

i wouldnt say theres much in it standard vs standard, race a re-mapped one when the st gets traction it would pull away easily.

so if it aint worth the extra money for a 182 what about a 197
