Quite a few places can fit the time the 197 cams correctly. Alex @ AW motorworks in Essex can fit time the 197 cams.
EFI is the worth the distance- travel (432 mile round trip for me) I live near Southampton and had my 172 mapped there.
Somethings not right. I had 197 cams timed up to 7 degrees, and the car ran fine and the idle was good (apart from being lumpy due to the cams) on the long drive up to EFI for mapping.
Not a great deal in it between 197 cams and GrpN timing power wise, but iirc you can’t get a clio to pass emissions test with GrpN timing, whereas you can with 197 cams.
I have 197 cams fitted and mapped at EFI to my 172, and it made another 15bhp.
Mine hasn’t changed a lot, as I tend to keep my cars for a long time (forever)
December 2005 Clio 172 which I still own.
Toyota Hilux purchased July 2009, still own.
Fabia VRS bought December 2010, still own.
BMW M2, 2017, still own.
I would get some 197 cams fitted (and timed up correctly) and then have them mapped at EFI. I did the above and my 172 with matched inlets, PMS exhaust and it made 190bhp.
I have one of these Pela pumps It works well tbh, and is easy to use. I only use it to do oil changes on the fabia as I can’t be arsed to remove the under trays.
Cheers Iain!
I’ve only gone on one ‘proper drive’ on my favourite roads so far (looking forward to getting it out on track) but very impressed. The added torque is really improved the drivability, I am not sure how much is from the 197 cams, or Chris@EFI mapping though. With the 197 cams and...
Update:
The Clio has had quite a bit done to it this month. New cambelt, aux belt, waterpump and coolant, dephaser pulley and 197 cams fitted and timed 7 degrees. All done by Gary (The Clio Man)
Then yesterday I went to EFI Parts for mapping.
The Clio made.
189.2 bhp
168.2 lb/ft
So happy...
