We had only 172 cars with that spec in blue in Spain and many were directly converted into rally cars. It was called the "172 S". But then we also had an unknown number of silver "S" or "Light", that you could spec with climate control as the only option, and I think they had ABS, contrary to...
bienvenido!
I also ended here because of the good amount of information and occasional banter :D
We used to have excellent resources in Spain too, such as RSclub, but they're all gone in favour of annoying WhatsApp and FB groups. It's definitely not the same. I'm happy that cliosport made it...
I come to you with feedback: the gearbox selector was knackered/badly adjusted. I'll never know because I sold it. Heel and toe was working because the throttle blip was shaking the whole powertrain and gear would go in. Since opening and repairing was time and money consuming, I fitted a JC5130...
Steering ratio of the 197 is 17:1. Renaultsport claims the 200 cup is 7,5% faster, so that would be 15,7:1?
Yes, I'm aware this thread is 10 years old.
thanks!
yeah, it's been in Spain for a year and a half. Still with UK plates.
The idea behind converting to lhd before registering in Spain is that f you do it after you've to pass an expensive homologation procedure.
THat Civic looks gorgeous! enjoy it!
I didn't enjoy EP3 ownership... owned a pre-FL from april to july 2018, the shortest I've had a car. I had it at the same time than my 182 and the Clio was a better daily: engine was intoxicating, but I preferred the mid-range on the baguette. Steering on the...
thanks! will give it a try
I found myself downshifting into first with the heat of the situation on very narrow mountain roads :D and the gearbox actually swallows first gear quite well!
Hi all, little update:
Since yesterday I find the hard point when downshifting into second. Only if I exaggerate the movement (doing it like 90deg movements) works fine. Otherwise impossible to get into second. I'm suspecting of the gear linkage. Does anybody know how to set it up properly?
Cheers!
previous owner had belts done before I purchased the car and I don't think they were Renault geniune... anyways, the car is now having belts, water pump and many things done; will give some feedback ;)
My 182 has been doing exactly that noise for more than 40k miles... If someone knows what it is I would really appreciate, but it seems to be nothing important as the car has been running fine for so long.
I'd say stiffer than GY's. Steering feel does change and the car reacts more immediately to your inputs. Haven't done many miles but they don't seem to wear faster. Actually, I think the shoulders are lasting more than with the GY's!

I have EXACTLY the same problem and clutch is new (Luk) and gearbox is new purchased in Renault. I'm suspecting of the clutch cable, but didn't have the time to investigate properly
mine seems to use the most of the oil during motorway trips. It uses from max to min in 3000km of spirited motorway driving (engine always over 4k rpm). The car is well maintained but clocks 180k km. Always ELF 5w40. Happy because it uses way much less oil than the old valver haha
it's that soft sidewall what makes the F1 assy2's so good in the wet. Didn't like them at all in dry. Swapped to Dunlop Sport maxx RT and they are superb in the dry (better than PS3) and very good in the wet. None of these two last more than the ps3... so yeah ps3 is the best all rounder.

the whole point of the ceramic pads is to reduce the amount of dust (actually, the dust they produce is more light colored but the amount is more or less the same).
stopping power is s**t IMHO when you go hard on them, they fade quicker and do not recover so well. For normal granny driving are ok.
