Re: PLEASE HELP! power drain *updated*
Well just an update.. The garage had the car for quite a few days now and have done check after check on it and can find nothing wrong
Driving it home yeserday I got the usual soaking from the leaking sunroof and that got my thinking, since...
well its been down the garage all morning now and they cant find a drain now!!
WTF?? this is crazy.. something is making the battery flat and no one knows what it is lol
they are gonna keep it till tuesday and see if it goes flat..
I did notice that the colder it is outside the more chance...
is the starter the only thing on the clio that has not got a circuit that goes threw the fusebox/relays???
Edit well iam not very good at understanding those readers but the RAC said it was drawing 3amps
he left the possitive terminal on the battery and connceted the possitive side of the amp meter to that and then he took the neg off the battery and connected the neg part of the amp meter onto the neg termal (not on the battery)
if that makes sence lol :S
the RAC man took the fuses out of the engine bay first then the ones under the glove box then the relays, and the current didnt change.. i was wondering if the starter was faulty.. it only jams tho when the battery is low tho.. :(
well the mk2 valvers are quick but with any N/A engine its hard to get much Bhp out of modding bits and bobs..
that supa chip is prob that silly resistor that advances the engine timing.. doubt very much that it adds 25bhp!!!
Edit.. did you say he had it turbo'd??
the car is completely standard, no amps and it has the renault radio..
the RAc man had a amp meter and one by one he took out the fuses and relays and the drain never stopped..
well it only has the renault immob..
Butwhat else could drain it thats not on any of the fuse circuits??? :S
starter maybe? does keep jamming up
EDit: one of the amp meters.. by the RAC man.. was reading 3amps
what a idoit, thats a mot fail and his is car dangerous as the springs are needed in the whole handling of the car, lets hope it sits on his drive and he is not out on the road in that death trap!
what mk golf was it, i have a mk4 and it weighs a tonne!! so not long before the shocks snap lol
on a clio p-reg 1.4RT automatic
The battery goes flat after 10hours.. so we replaced the battery and its still doing it.. alternator tested and charging
Found out that there is a constant drain of 3amps..
There is no boot or glove box light on and radio and lights are off..
Pulled out...
How can I get the radio code for the standard radio??? I went to the dealers and they want £5 to check on there database!!! WTF cant they just give it too me??
Anyone any ideas???
Thanks
yeah I had a look everything seems dry and no loose wires or anything dodgy
Can those adjusters (are they the black boxes on the back of the headlamp?) be bought seperatly and are they expensive at all??
cheers
from the passenger headlight when the lights are on dipped beam, it doesnt do it when the side lights are on.. I did notice some "black boxes" that are on the back of the headlights, are these relays or something and could they be the source of the humming??
also are they expensive to...
Thanks BobRTE, you have helped shed some light lol
This transducer, is it easy to replace?? (hope gearbox doesnt have to comeout)
oh by the way it is an automatic, forgot to meantion that important fact *doh* :o
With me mum's P-Reg 1.4RT...
Sometimes the speedo works, then sometimes it doesnt
There is a hum coming from somewhere when the dipped beam lights are on (doesnt do it with side lights on)
and whats that extra dial on the dash that lights up and the needle moves with the ignition on but...
