With me mum's P-Reg 1.4RT...

Sometimes the speedo works, then sometimes it doesnt

There is a hum coming from somewhere when the dipped beam lights are on (doesnt do it with side lights on)

and whats that extra dial on the dash that lights up and the needle moves with the ignition on but when driving it acts like it dont work????

Hi Sugar79
1. Speedo not working is possibly due to the transducer fitted into the gearbox where a normal speedo would fit. Remove and refit the electrical connector and see if this cures the problem. If not, buy a new transducer.
2. Humming noise is possibly the alternator working harder when under load. Maybe nothing to worry about.
3. The dial on the dash is possibly the oil level indicator. Electronic dip stick. Will only work when the engine isn't running!

I have said possibly to all of your queries, as without seeing and listening to your
Mums cars problems I couldn't be 100% certain.

Hope that helps.

If it's auto, then that will be a different ball game! I would need to look up the speedo interface for an auto. I will get back to you tomorrow.
