Got sorched fingers to prove it! Not something I normally do, but even the alloys were slightly warm to the touch which can't be right as I'd done very little braking considering.
Okay, so I finally went for a short test drive; 3 miles at 30-40 mph with moderate braking. I got back and both front discs were absolutely roasting, I couldn't touch them for any more than a second. Is this normal for new pads/discs or am I being premature and need to give the brakes some stick...
Thanks Fred. Yeah was aware of the vertical play but not the side to side probs. They've gone in now with some filling down. This was only required on the inner one. And yes, the shims are outa there. Just need to bleed, then time for a test drive:)
Hi,
I'm trying to fit some DS2500 (FCP565H) to my 182 (together with new Brembo HCs) but am having problems....the caliper bolts are not aligning because the pads seem too wide.

It seems that about 2mm needs to come off to...
The AC does work, although maybe not for much longer...Renault dealer re-gassed it about 6 months ago. Hmmmm. Sounds like a garage job then as I know nothing of AC systems, unless anybody's got any further ideas?
Cheers,
Kris
Thanks mate. Yeah, will certainly be cleaning and re-greasing everything; one of the lower slide bolts was rusted solid . How do they spring back if there are no springs?!
Hi,
I'm in the middle of changing the front discs and pads on my 182 and have a question about the caliper carrier slide bolts...
...when pushed in fully (off the car) are they supposed to spring out a little? The bottom ones seem to but the top ones don't. Is this normal or have the...
Hi,
I've just taken my engine cover off and noticed a couple of holes that look like they should have bolts in them. Can anybody confirm?
Second pic is behind the engine on passenger side.
Cheers,
Kris

Thanks for the replies chaps.
I'm looking at the Menzerna G220 package from CYC so it'll be all Menzerna polishes/pads to start with.
One other thing - it's okay to follow the above process on my stone-chipped bonnet isn't it?
Hi,
I'm finally going to get a machine polisher and give my 2.5 year old black gold 182 a serious going over. I'm getting a G220 with the Menzerna polishes/pads. This is what I plan to do:
Wash with Megs Gold Class
Clay with Megs Quick Clay
Menzerna Intensive Polish (PO85RD3.02) using...
My first thought was fuse, but it can't have blown as they came back on again. They were only off for about 20 seconds. Could be a loose fuse - not checked yet. Car is a 55 reg 182 with 14k on the clock.
Hi,
The other night whilst driving home I looked down and almost all my dashboard lights had turned themselves off! The only ones left on were the headlight light and the trip computer display. Everything else seemed okay - the headlights stayed on. I turned the headlights off and on a couple...
Hi,
Can somebody tell me how to de-activate the interior sensors (i.e. when the dog's in the car) on a 182 alarm? The alarm instructions are crap.
Thanks,
Kris
Hi,
After a very successful first clay session today :) , I'm going for the SRP and EGP combo tomorrow. One question though - how long do I wait before buffing off the SRP?
Cheers,
Kris
What should I be using to polish my 182?
There seem to be various applicator pads available, some with cutting action. What do you recommend for a general polish?
Cheers,
Kris
For the last few weeks I've had an intermitent grinding/scraping noise coming from the offside front, sometimes when breaking sometimes when not. So last weekend I took the wheel off and look what I found.....
Can you see it? No? Let's look a little closer...
Yes, that's right it's a...
I think they only work when the headlights are on and you hold the stalk in for 3 or more seconds. They don't wash both at the same time either - when I tested mine it did one then the other.
