I was thinking about that... which brings another question, will the ecu go into a limp home mode?
Does anyone know what sensors are used to control ignition?
I'm sort of coming up with another plan using a non injection ignition ecu which uses a signal from a sensor on the flywheel and...
Thanks for the info :), i thought that when you turn the dizzy it just sets the base timing but you still need something to advance and r****d the ignition when the engines under different loads.
Could anyone advise on the cheapest and easiest route for handling the ignition timing on a mk1 1.8 16v running twin carbs?
Basically at some point in the future i'll get a decent aftermarket ecu for the ignition side of things but right now i just need a cheap easy solution for the timing...
I'm really not sure, have searched on google quite alot and it doesn't come up with anything. Was hoping it was centrifugal and vacuum advance built into the distributor but can't see a vacuum pipe going in anywhere near the distributor.
This maybe a silly question but does the ignition system on the clio engines with the distributor on the back of the cam work independant of the ecu or does the ecu hold the igntion map?
Hi all
Just thought i'd pop a post up to say hello before posting away in other sections, i don't actually own a clio at the moment but have an engine i'm using for a swap and wanted to ask a few tech type questions.
