I have thought about the KW setup alright I looked at the V3's, the roadgoing damp and rebound adjustable. I had V2's on a MKIV Golf before and found them good.
You say KW competition setup, any idea where I would get info on them or is it the Varient 3's you are talking about?
To be honest Ian you could never drive the car on the road with the setup, would rattle your fillings out, you've been in it, when flat out on any corner there is hardly any body roll.
I have driven it on back roads and it's painful, maybe with softer spring it might improve but not the way...
Well Ian,
it not that I am sick of them, it's just that I want something better, I plan to get the suspension up to scratch before I go into any more engine work. They wern't damaged no. For the short term I think I am going to try some softer springs. currently when I hit a kerb it really...
First of all thank you for the replys.
Fletcher there said Leda's AST's. Are AST's basicallt leda rebranded?
@ Adyspec Racing; are you running one of AST's competition kit? The clio does not seem to be on the list of what they do. Kits for other cars are around the 2.5k mark.
Gaz are...
Hi,
I have a 172 that is only used for track days, it is completely stripped inside and caged
I am improving the car and looking to fit a full race set of coilovers
At the moment I have the GAZ GHA coilover in it with heavier springs. But my question is what are people running in their race...
Hi,
I have an oil cooler to fit to my 172. My problem is that there is not much room for the sandwich plate. Does anyone have a pic of the plate fitted? I have used the search function and one pic I found almost has it but not enough.
With the plate fitted the hoses are going to be right tight...
Yes it has oil in it.......
It sounded a bit bogey to me when he said lambda. I just thought ''he a renault tech he should know''
I have 5W 40 here that I'll put in tomorrow and the stealer is open again Monday so I'll get a pressure sensor. Think they are only a few quid. Its on the front...
Hi,
I have an 02 clio 172. When the engine is at temp the oil light flickers at idle and goes out when rev'd at all.
The car is only used for trackdays so its gets a hard time whenever it runs.
A renault mechanic told me maybe it's the lambda sensor.
I plan to order some gauges in the...
Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread
How do you find the sound on the camera when its in that case?
I found it almost nil but when its out of it the sound is perfect. I am thinking of drilling holes in the case to let the sound in. (I have the camera inside the car)...
Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread
Hi,
Could you tell me where you got the brakes and a bit more detail on them?
What is the disc size? Do they fit under 15'' rims?
I will contact avanti so to see what they have to offer. It would be good to get something better than standard. The one I have is crunching a little going into second when changing down.
Can anyone reccomend an LSD, car is only for track never road to aggressive as they get.
If I get a...
Hi, My first thread so be gentle!!!!
I have a 172 for track days, the engine and box are pretty standard. Engine has uprated clutch, set of APR head bolts, decat, exhaust, induction kit, a chip and thats really it. It made 181BHP last time on rollers so there is enough there to enjoy it and I...
I cannot speak for the newer models but I have a 02 Reg S3 and a 00 Reg Clio 172. I love the clio and I only really use it for trackdays. BUT the S3 would hand the clio its ass in every aspect, straight line speed, cornering, braking is much of a muchness but overall the S3 is much quicker.
I have too many questions to ask so rather that hijack a thread I think I will start a new one.
What does having the dash flocked mean?
One thing I was think was get rid of everything and just have something like these

I also run Brembo discs on pagid blue pads, my local track is a very twisty one thats hard on brakes and I have not had any problems at all, I am well impressed.
I was going to fit porsche boxster S rear brembo callipers to the front of the clio but when I used the pagid's they were that good...
The below link explains it fairly well.
It was on a MKII GTI I had so I only need the adapter.
I need to look into it more as I want to up the fuel pressure for higher revs

@ ben_p
Cheers,
There are a few engine mods, decat, full system, induction kit with a cold feed running from the foglight hole, rev limit raised and a basic chip that ups the fuel and that is really it.
But I had it on rollers about 3 months ago and with 95octane petrol, needed new plugs...
I have my harnesses attached to the rear seat belt fixing point. This is WRONG. Someone said there previously they are supposed to be mounted more horizontal back, that is right, the idea is that if in an accident the belt holds you, but when its low the belt will pull down on you and compress...
My trackday car is sort of an ex-clio racecar without the sadev box.
You can see the cage in the pic below and that bar mentioned on the previous page. Just because its not there doesn't mean anything FIA wise, the basic sparco cages are much most minimal that what you or I have and they are...
Gaz are VERY hard,
This is a pretty sharp left hand bend at approx 60mph (I dont know I dont look at the speedo)
As you can see the car does not have much roll. Great for track but on a road car :S
