I'm with Loony ^ . It's rare to find a car that can't do 70 on the motorway, no matter how slowly it gets there. How would you feel if you couldn't stop when you needed to, and accidentally injured someone?
Get yourself some new Michelins all round, and change them at 3mm.
By fitting a standard paper element, you will have increased the 'pumping losses', ie the amount of energy required to suck air through it. The extra energy comes right out of your fuel tank. I doubt it would make much difference in normal daily driving though, more likely to be the cold snap.
I've just done front Brembo Max discs and Green Stuff pads, both from fleaBay. I was dead happy with mine, got the lot for £130.60 from a shop called Amtex. They delivered by courier the next day too, and the brakes are ace.
(My only pointer would be to make sure the pads are a nice...
Yup, sorry. Renault stiched us up with particularly poor gearboxes I'm afraid. They often won't help you if the car's still in warranty period either. The expensive bit won't be having the 'box done (about £350), it will be removing and refitting it (£ouch). Consider sticking a new Renault...
Just changed my front stoppers myself. My tip would be to make sure the new pads aren't too tight in the caliper. They shouldn't be too rattley, but should slide in nicely without any effort/tapping. My old inner pads were stuck solid, and not making contact with the discs at all. My new EBC...
A lighter flywheel won't give you any more power, but may make your car 'faster'. A flywheel is there to smooth the nasty vibrating 4 pot we've got stuck under our bonnets. A flywheel resists rpm changes basically.
By putting a lighter one on, it resists change less easily, ie; it will rev...
Motul / Silkoline only for me. Why risk wear/permanent loss of performance? Most stealer/high street 'fully synthetics' are total rubbish imo. Good quality oil is only about £20 extra per change! I do mine every 6K to be on the safe side too...
Craig, The damping rate of a 'shock absorber' is factory matched to a cars' weight, although they will have made some 'average' assumptions (ie: 1 driver, 2 passengers, a piece of luggage and have a tank of juice). Have you significantly altered your cars mass? Are you going for reduced...
I got some Brembo's on eBay, I personally wouldn't risk my car / life on those cheapies though. My front Disks cost me £85 delivered, and you can get genuine Renault rears from K-Tec for £175 I think. Standard Renault rears are fine, the car is soooo front heavy, the back brakes hardly do a...
Conti's are very good. Lots of people rate Goodyear F1's on here too, probably the best VFM (?).
I personally like the Michelins because they're quiet, they grip very well in all weathers, and don't wear out at a silly rate. They are generally the most expensive though.
Different tyres will...
I use Blackcircle without problems, and I wouldn't say the Michelins would be a waste. I'm glad I bought them every time I've got to stop in screaming hurry! Saved me a bunch of times, thats just my opinion though.
If they're the Falken ZE512, they're very adhesive, but don't last long.
I only run Michelin's myself, as I don't trust my car/life to anyone else. You can get PE2's for about £75 a corner, if you shop around.
I've just bought a pair of Brembo Max Disks, and a set of Greenstuff Pads for £130.60 inc VAT and delivery.
Thought that was pretty good, they were from Amtex shop on ebay. This isn't an ad, and I'm not affiliated with them in any way. Nor am I saying this is the cheapest you can get them...
Has anyone actually bought a stealth yozza yet? I'm sure they're excellent quality, but I'm after an unbiased opinion on the noise (particularly at 70mph). If I spend all our savings ruining the car I'm gonna get f*ckin' divorced!
OMG, what are you thinking about?! WD40?! Go and get a service kit.
And while you're out, check out what it would cost to have a new lump fitted.

If you do swap from the noisy pipe, fancy doing an update? I'm v interested in a Yozza Stealth, but £459 is an awful lot of money to me. Want to make sure I spend it wisely!
Cheers Chap.
