    Having had a closer look, perhaps what I was calling a cam belt isn't! - it seems to just drive the PAS together with a tensioner wheel and then there is a separate belt that drives the alternator - is that correct? If so, how does the PAS belt get slackened enough to remove it?

    It has PAS but no AC. The main engine shaft has two pulleys, the outer one has a wide toothed belt and the inner one a narrow toothed alternator belt.

    I can't see how to remove the alternator belt on my 2001 Clio 1.2 16V D4F as the cam belt/pulleys/tensioners etc seem to be in the way - any help please? many thanks
