I have exactly the same problem. My wheel looks like it's done 100k! It's not like I have sweaty palms or anything. I've got an 04 plate at 28k. Glad it's not just me. I feel an angry email to Renault coming on...
Hi, my 182 steering wheel has gone manky, the leather has gone funny and creased and it's quite uncomfortable to hold now. Does anybody know how much a replacement Renault steering wheel will cost, and also whether or not the 197 wheel will fit?
Cheers!
When I rang the Renault dealer for some new tyres, the conversation went like this:
"What type of car is it"
"It's a Clio 182"
"And what size tyres are they?"
"What do you mean, what size tyres are they, can you not look it up?"
"What type of car is it?"
"(Sigh) It's a Clio 182"
"And...
Keep it clean and shiny, let everything warm up properly, hit the limiter at least once on every journey and you'll be rewarded with many happy years of three-wheeled cornering antics.
Although mine only does about 5k a year...:race:
All 197's look ace. I very nearly bought one in a grey-silver with the glass roof. It drove superb, but i ended up with a 182, it just feels a bit livelier. Harder to live with tho...
Cheers. I'll just demand that they check everything. last thing you need is a belt snapping or something! I'll probably get the usual 'they all do that, mate'
Thats funny, mine goes whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh too. Sounds like its coming from the alternator area, don't know whetehr its the belt or the thing itself. Going into the dealers in a week or two...
Best advice people is to shop around. My girlfriends Diahatsu had an oil change not so long ago, and the quotes varied from £48 to £150. To do the same job. And the dearest dealer was the closest, so by driving a few more miles you'll save a bunch.
Besides, my local Renault dealer's workshop...
I'd had my 182 for 6 days when it refused to start one a horribly wet day in wales, it had started fine 1st thing that morning, but refused to restart when we got to wales. All I got was a ticking noise but no turning over. the aa got it going by cleaning the battery terminals and boosting it...
I bought mine after test driving a 197 and deciding it was crap. Love the looks and chassis, but not the stupidly light steering or the 100 or so kg of excess flab the car is carrying.
you just have to know where to look. trouble is the local po-lice are mad on speed cameras. the a34 that goes from stafford through newcastle and to congleton must have about 1 a mile. the upside is there aren't many traffic cops, at least round my end. I have seen a black skoda octavia vrs, and...
stoke has plenty of good roads, and there's loads close by too, head out biddulph way and over past rudyard lake to leek, then keep going into the peak district. there's a long tunnel out near a little place called wetton mill that begs to be thrashed through with the windows down.
see, no vans
come on, if you were all-powerful and all knowing and stuff, would you buy a ford? me, i'd get myself a v6 clio and go backwards through the pearly gates in a ball of flame...
That is true, mine could do with a bit more abuse. I've got no excuse, where I live the peak district and all its top roads are only 10 mins away! the shame... i should hand in my keys and buy a toyota.
First time on the site and what do i get? ey up duck. not to worry, nice to see loads of other people round here worshipping at the altar of the mighty clio, so to all of you i say EY UP! don't see many other 182's round here tho, might have to keep my eyes open from now on...
