I've just read on here that a cup gearbox is just as good as an alternative for a ph1 172. Is this true as there's about 3 on ebay for £275 - £300?

I'm still going to get it fitted soz. Clutch hasn't gone yet but it will do shortly so I may as well as get it all done at the same time as me gearbox.

It's a quote from Renault Specialists. Used gearbox @ £325, delivery @ £25 & VAT @ £52.50 = £402.50. Just Renaults have quoted £300 for a used with £45 VAT. Waiting for a couple more quotes yet off partsgateway. I the gearbox specific to the car model or will any renault gearbox do?
