Snapped Car Key

My key blade has come out of the fob.

Spare key is lost at the moment!!

Does anyone no whether i can get a new blade cut & fitted into my fob?

What if I don't have the blade that's come out though?!!

Yep, you'll need to find the blade or the spare to get a copy off first though.

no you dont need a spare to copy it from at all.
i snapped mine last week and i dont have a spare. if you give renault your reg number, they will supply you with a code for your key. go to a place where you can get keys cut, give them the code and thats it. you will need your v5 as proof of ownership when you go to renault tho. the blade just pushes in and out of the renault plastic fob. i got 2 blades made up for £25.

Will the code be the same as the one in my service books do u think?

yes. the code for the key always stays the same. i would give renault a quick call and give them your reg number just so they can confirm it. like i said tho you usually have to go in with v5 (log book) and prove its yours.

All sorted - thank you!!

Because I had the codes for both keys in my servicing book I ddn't have to actually go down to Renault and ask for them - I just phoned them up and asked them to CONFIRM that the codes I have are the correct ones and they said yes!!

They also told me which shop to go to and get a blade cut.

In the end it only cost me £10 -the locksmith did it there and then for me in a couple of mins.

Beats paying £150 for a brand new fob and key any day!!
