doesnt seem bad. I am not 100% sure about the ph1 but I know for sure that the ph2 you have to replace the entire shaft. I paid £95 + Vat per shaft and then fitted them myself.

I just bought a 172 ph 1 as a spare, so I assume if it doesnt have vvt then it wont run on my ph2

I replaced my 172 cup with the poly bushed ones and they are great. Much stiffer than the other ones. Don't over tighten the bolts as the one into the block is alloy so would round easily. I spoke to the guy at Ktec before doing it and he said they have fitted them to loads of cars including...

have you checked if you are getting a spark when you crank it over?

I would look on ebay, think there is one there at the moment.

I have seen the opnes on ebay, 1 guy had said they were "reconditioned" but when I asked what had been doen he said just the gaitors replaced. I think it costs about £125 + Vat for my ones to be reconditoned but wasn't sure if you could buy them new for a similar cost? Cheers Sandy

The off side drive shaft is on its way out on my 172 cup. Where is the best place to buy one? I cant send mine to be reconditioned as I need the car for work. Cheers Sandy
