Cheapest place for Lower Engine Mount + Bushes??

  Add me 2 ur PS3 - Lylak
Hello all,

I've got a ph2 172 and therefore have the twisted lower engine mount as shown on K-Tec's website here...

http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=1485

I've read some horror stories regarding the poly bushes as they are rock solid and can shread the thread on the bolts.

So, I'm looking for a standard replacement mount and bushes, however I do not know where the best place to get them from is?

Any links appreciated :)

Cheers,

  172 cup
I replaced my 172 cup with the poly bushed ones and they are great. Much stiffer than the other ones. Don't over tighten the bolts as the one into the block is alloy so would round easily. I spoke to the guy at Ktec before doing it and he said they have fitted them to loads of cars including turbo'd 172's. With any product you have a few unhappy customers but I personally would go with the poly bushes.
Cheers

Intereted in this aswell as mine is on its way out :(

got one on mine but then i've not long fitted it. rather hoping it won't trash the gearbox casing - it'd be good to hear a detailed explanation of the problems that individuals have had with them.

think i read on search that someone had found that it ovaled the hole - ?

not sure how easy it'd be to strip the threads in the g'box casing - as there are loads engaged (the bolt is quite long - the bolt's steel and the casing's alloy BTW) - ?

i renewed all of the other mounts at the same time which seems sensible if fitting the uprated one accelerates wear in the others. again - ?

not sure what other problems people have found. may be snapped bolts? i've snapped suspension tie bars before now (not much fun whilst on the move!) due to the poly bushes fitted to them transmitting too much vibration through the component

my finding after fitting it is that it does introduce more vibration at idle (was only ever going to) but that the powertrain doesn't seem as slack in its mounts. having said this, i've no idea how shot the original one really was and what affect the other new mounts are having (as i fitted it all at once). there's still a fair bit of slack in there, even with the poly dog bone, mind. the top mount's the main culprit (after the dog bone) IMO

Well I've been quoted £40 for a Renault mount, or I can get the poly bushes for £35.

I think I'll go Renault and see how it goes?
