After owning my 197 for a few weeks now, a few "small" issues have come to light. I decided to make the most of my warranty and take a trip to the dealers.
The main problem I'd noticed was a slight knock from the steering wheel when turning at slow speeds - turns out my steering column needs...
Thought I'd share a handful of photos I took today at Donnington, as I got around 500 in total!
This was my first ever visit to a track, and therefore my first time at attempting motorsport photography but I'm pretty pleased with most of the shots I got. Taken with an EOS 350D and Sigma 300mm...
Well I'm looking at 197's for around 10 - 11k, there's a load around for that sort of price with decent milage on 08 plates I've found, but as of now Renault have none that match what I want, as I'm after an albi, they have a fair few in other colours though. They've said they'll try to find one...
I've been saving a while for a 197 now, and the time has come where I can afford it.
I've had my car up for sale for a while and not had much interest, so yesterday got a quote for part ex from a Renault dealer. They said they would give me £5700 for the car, which I was pleasantly surprised...
Poorboys SSR2 or higher, and a machine polisher - the only ones I use and they work a treat, I've only just started using a machine too and get good results. They break down easily but are still effective.
Spent a few hours Saturday cleaning up my girlfriend's, friend's new car. It was an ex police surveillance car apparently, and had been knocked about, but we managed to smarten it up a fair bit.
Gave me a good opportunity to have another go with the polisher, pretty pleased with how it came...
How long did you spend going over the boot lid with the pc? I have a kestrel and would love to know how to get results like that, I don't think I spend long enough on one area though!
Thanks for the info, that will help me a lot in the future - think we are going to another zoo in a few weeks time so I can try it out again then.
I've been having a play tonight with aperture priority mode with the aid of the stickied guide on here, as I didn't understand what it was for...
Thanks Ian and everyone else for the comments.
For most of the photos through glass I was almost right up by the glass, but it was hard to get good pics of anything being at right angles as the animals were never in idel places, so most of the time I was shooting at a bigger angle to the...
Wow you got some great shots there! It was a long drive down to the zoo but was definately worth it, one of the best I've been to!
I noticed you said you used the outside landscape mode, I might try that as I think our camera has a similar one.
Did you shoot through the glass ok?
lol I'd love to have been able to avoid shooting through glass, but I'd have ended up with just pictures of elephants and rhinos today, nearly everything had glass windows to view through!
The photos above were through glass, apart from the one of the rhino. I was taking the filter off for anything that wasn't through glass though.
I did a few test shots the other day with the new lens and there was no difference in quality between that and the kit lens, so I don't think it's...
Went to Colchester Zoo today, was really looking forward to using the new Sigma lens with our Canon 350D - but the majority of our photos didn't turn out too well, even though they looked fine on the LCD at the time :(
We were using a polarising filter too to help with shots through glass, but...
Thanks sophance, never thought of that actually!
It's going to be cars mostly to start with, at dusk time, so yea no movement for now.
I also like the shots I've seen people do over motorways/duel carriageways, where the car lights are blurred into a long line of light - is this the same...
I'm interested in getting some low light/night shots, but being a beginner I'm not sure what the best settings for the camera would be to get good results.
I have a Canon 350D with kit lens and a Sigma APO 70 -300mm lens, and also access to a 450D possibly.
Any tips will be appreciated!
