Thanks all.
As for the photos it was using a Canon 1D mkIIn and a Sigma 85 1.4 and then cropped like a mofo! I still do not own a 70-200 in any form. Come to think of it, in all my years that is the only lens I have never owned. :-/
I didn't even know who organised it. Apparently it was a invite only event. From what I can figure out, its all done away from Facebook and forums which in theory does cut down on the numpties. I just dare guess how much it was for the day to hire it out.
Yeah all AI servo set to moderately fast. The biggest issue still was the AF as too accurate and had a habit of focusing on the fence. These are quite heavily cropped so im insanely happy with these. Shame the keeper rate was poor. Think out of 600 photos, 60 or so were keepers. Reckon if it was...
Nah same person ;-) Just getting back into the swing of real photography. To be honest, the NEX was great for everyday use BUT so much of a pain to try and photograph anything more serious.
I was there as a guest also so was good. I would be tempted to just make myself a vest and just walk...
This was a real treat. I don't actually have any experience shooting motorsport but thought I would give it a go. Since I was with friends and colleagues, I didn't want to ditch them and go elsewhere so stayed around the Brooklands area for these. Sadly, the only thing I would like about these...
Thanks for the comments, there should hopefully be more over the next few month. Hopefully I make the most out of the next few months...touch wood. Can follow my work and other events here http://clarity-rebirth.co.uk/theblog
The R33 in my eyes has always looked dated but depending on how its modded visually, can still look good. To be honest, I would have to go for an R32 but the power thing thing had just made it very tempting. No interior/engine pics but the owner is happy for another meetup so ill see what I can...
Been looking at doing this. We were looking at going totally barry with an escort or an astra. Im not sure what the rules are about ditching it at the end and flying home...
Ah, a good clean example. A good map will see you keeping up with a lot of other higher end NA motors without question.
Visual mods, not much needed to enhance the body itself. This is what my mates ended up looking like.
Make sure you love and treat your clutch right;-)
Cheers all. Hopefully we have this back on the road soon once the rest of the work is finished. I'll hopefully get a full build list and what not later. And more pix :-)
Tis a total stunner. Currently its requiring a hopefully small repair but should be back for a full feature once the meth injection and map on the rollers is done. Looking forward to seeing what the power gains are. Should have a build list shortly.
Here is what it sounds like on half and full...
Whilst I was shooting my friends RX-7, another couple of mates were about including an incarnation of hell on earth, a tasty R33 Skyline running around 800bhp on the RB30 lump. Will hopefully get my hands on this again soon alongside an ex time attack contender :)
A friend has finally got a single turbo conversion done on his car along with a few other bits. Car is totally mental and he wanted some photos. Few things I would do different editing/processing wise but meh.
1D mkIIn and Sigma 85 1.4 for these
Thanks. Tricky day but good overall coverage, blog to follow.
These were shot with a 1D mkIIn. The rolling shot was the Canon 17-40L and the rest with the Sigma 85 1.4. :-)
The turbo'ed 5? Damn! Did you spot the 3 series with the corvette lump? Tasty!
As for the E30, spotted it at Gaydon a few weeks ago.
Went up for sale then the owner changed his mind, glad he did!
I know if I do not do mine today, they will sit there for weeks!
To be honest, the quality was better but there were still a massive amount of sheds but you get that anywhere which is open to all marques. Like I was discussion with people, some of the stands were in silly positions eg Cliosport...
Thanks
It was unusual to see something like that there. I would have expected that down Edition 38
Judging by what certain people were wearing, this was actually what I would classify as tolerable!
Did not like getting up at that time but needs are a must. Good day overall. Nice to go back after being away for a few years.
Some photos from the day.
Loved this

Woo, my video made it on here? ^_^ There was so much still to do so does feel a bit amateurish but still what a day that was.
Ended up causing a bit of a tailback on the motorway so apologies for that. I think everyone was working right on the limit so sleep was a great reward.
Oska, it is a great tool. That is the only difference between the NEX3 and 5. Everything else is identical so image quality should be exactly the same. :) Best variation in any range I have seen so far.
To be fair, this might be right up your street then. Intelligent auto looks at your scene...
100mms are great I find, bit more distance between you and your subject, means less chance of shadowing and more opportunity to throw light around via a flash.
If you have a look at most dedicated macro lenses, all fixed focal. No need to zoom.
