Re: Poll: 172 Oil light going out after 2 sec with ignition on but engine not running
Thats a bit crap, I ran the engine with the oil pressure switch disconnected, then short it out to earth and still no warning light.... What was renault thinking???
Can some turn the ignition on and check their clio 172 to see if its the same, I've had the car 2 years and I think it's always been like it, not too sure though. Its only after I changed the oil and checked the oil light went out afterwards that I noticed it goes out even with the engine not...
Hello all,
The oil pressure light comes on for a few seconds when the ignition is turned and then goes out before the engine has been started.
I unplugged the oil pressure switch cable and linked it out which made no difference. I guess there should be 12v at the cable with ignition on but...
May seem like a dumb question, I know that the 172 have a black inside and that the 182 has a grey inside, but I have brought a 172 headlight from ebay with the black inside which matches the old headlight fine but on the outside edge the verticle strip is black also and on my old lights its...
Can anyone help... my 172 has always had this issue where there is about a 1-2 sec delay from when you turn the key to when the starter motor starts to turn. I only mention this now as I've recently drove 2 clio 182s and there is no delay on either of them. Any ideas??
If the bulb and power pack worked when swapped with the other side, it sound like the ballast unit underneath the headlight is faulty. I had exactly the same issue. New ballast unit off ebay solved it. Not sure why you have no lights at all now though!
See ebay link for ballast unit...
It took me about 1hr the 1st time and then about 30mins the 2nd. Remove bumper (The second time I just undone the screws/clips on one side of the bumper and let it hang),3 bolts to remove headlight and then just 3 screws to remove the ballast unit attached to the underneath of the headlight...
Just to let you all know that I have fixed the issue with my passenger side headlight.;) Good old ebay had a brand new ballast unit for £45! Better than main dealer price!!! Emailed the seller and he has a few brand new spare units available. Have a look if you need one...
