A friend of mine races a 197 so I've said he can have it for what i paid for it, I guess he'll brake it, sell all of the road car bits and hopefully end up with a number of spaces for the race car with minimal outlay.
that's exactly what my thinking was.
Car has now been written off and agreed a value of £2800, bought the car back for £475 so I can use it whilst I find something else.
Not sure what I'll end up buying but sure at some point I'll end up with a clio 200 as I've already moved from a 172 - 182 -...
The point of not going though the insurance was he either paid the body shop upfront or bought the car off me, not me buggering about fixing it myself.
To be fair him turning up with cash for the car could have been a lot less hassle than dealing with insurance companies, it’s going though...
Sorry for the delay in update had another chat with him the following morning and on reflection of likely overall cost we’re going through insurance.
As for why to entertain him paying cash, I personally could care less where the cash comes from as long as I don’t end up out of pocket, if it...
I’m sure it will be written off, cars prob worth £2.5k as an average 197 with 90k miles. If he brings cash tomorrow he can keep the car and I’ll be happy enough move on and find something else easily enough
I know what you mean it happened tonight and I’ve said it need to be sorted out tomorrow ie cash in my hand if I’m not I’ll have to go though insurance. He understands and I think it’s reasonable enough to give him 24hours to see if we can sort it first.
That’s my thinking, been on the phone with him tonight and warned him it’s likely to be written off and he still looking at sorting out cash to avoid insurance as he was quite young with a nice car.
I’ve just been hit up the back by a young guy in a bmw, he understandably would rather not go through insurance. My gut feeling is it’s a right off. Does anyone know ruffly what the following parts cost from Renault, not really looking for a scrap yard bodge.
Rear bumper
Rear panel
Tailgate...
It would appear this evening I managed to leave my drivers side mirror scattered across the road after me an a car coming the other way managed to smash mirrors into each other.
So need to get a new one, does anybody know if they are the same as all other clios? If so I'll be searching eBay...
Having a few issues with my Clio 182 track car. Basickly it's not at all interested turning over.
When you put the key in the immobiliser light is solid, then if you try and start it there's a slightly click that sounds like it's coming from the glove box area, then nothing for a couple of...
board a work so I thought I add a few images of the car so far.
Need to order some race pads and finish fitting the fire extinguisher and then I think it almost done. In the back of my mind I'm hoping to enter it into the Victor meldrew Handicap race at brands hatch at the end of the month.
I've pretty much finished building a car for the championship, not 100% sure if I'll end up using it as I've been discussing a drive in a different championship.
Done a fair amount of the ground work now.
Sourced and fitted a cup alternator set up, cup rear spoiler and non xenon headlights.
Interior stripped out and redundant wiring and sound proofing removed.
Cage is fitted and seat being fitted in the next week or so, bought some 6 point Luke...
If the above sounds outside of budget, worth looking at Sprinting
Clio 182's seam to do well in the unto 2.0l class, less safety gear is needed, you can use a non race national B license so no adds test is required.
when I did it entries varied from about £60 for North Weald (run by...
I race in Production BMW which is probably about as budget as you can get with regards to cost
Car £3-8000
Tow car … as little or as you like but when your paying entry fees you'll want to make sure you get there
Trailer £1500ish to what ever you want to spend
Racewear best part to £1k for...
Cheers, It was where the best place to cut the ignition that I was after.
On the E36 compact I built most people tended to cut the power to the ECU as that effectively achieved the same same thing
Looking to fit an FIA cut off switch just wondering if there is a guide anywhere.
Think I'll be ok cutting the main feed, but where do people tend to wire in the secondary part of the switch to stop it running off of the alternator?
I don't think you can go wrong with the team dynamics wheels, Think I paid £320ish delivered for my 15' pro race.
With regards to suspension I think the standard stuff works quite well, advise on what to replace it with will come down to budget. Not sure if the cheap coil over will be much...
Thanks, disconnected one injector at a time and the one furthest from the gearbox made no difference. Just replaced it with one from euro car parts and all seams well, now off for a drive to check all is well
Thanks to all who replied
Thanks for the reply I'll have a look at it. When I took the plenum off to look at the plugs and looked down the manifold there was a clear wash around the injector head in cylinders 1, 2, and 3. But when looking down the furthest from the clutch it looked like the clean area around the injector...
I quickly plugged it in this morning before work and it came up with a P0300 fault code, which looks to be ignition related or possibly one or 2 other sensors.
don't think so,
I've spoken to my brother in law who's a very good mechanic
his best guess is that water's got into the plug well so keeping fingers crossed.
So popped out to see a customer and whilst heading down one of the local a roads ended up going through a reasonably big puddle, followed a van though and took it slow in first gear, all seamed fine for a few miles and then it started to miss fire.
Had to drive about 10 miles home, still miss...
