thats pretty shocking :s the AA guy I had come out was ok, although I must say the RAC were MUCH better when i've used them in the past - all depends who you get though I suppose.
maybe someone can confirm if they are just a uniform part (not 172/182 specific) - mine was only £40 brand new from...
hum, just do a quick search for "throttle potentiometer", you'll see people with similar issues. its all pretty much guess work till you get it diagnosed. if you are member of AA or RAC etc, be worth a call out - thats what I did instead of paying £60 or whatever Renault wanted :)
Good luck...
throttle body, throttle potentiometer would be my 'guess' - what you are describing was exactly how my car was behaving.
...my cup was stalling when depressing the clutch, and i had the whole limp/3k rev limiter thing with that too. as suggested, get it diagnosed. you could try taking the...
no word of a lie... took an hour for me to get the driver side bolt off... get a can of WD40! once that was off, 10 min job if that - make sure you take the wheel off first as they are heavier than you'd think ;)
... however looking at the fronts, theres no leak from those either (though I know this doesn't always mean the aren't shot :/ anything else people can suggest to look @ I did some searching on the forum, and anti roll bar was mentioned.
Its a very crashy ride from the front anyway, but I...
Update from me, had my rear dampers off today - both seem to compress with a fair bit of resistence and pop back out.. so i'm pretty sure they are ok.
Going to get the fronts looked at over the weekend hopefully following Rico's advice...
KTEC had some on their website for £250 yesterday as a limited stock thing, I was tempted but I saw the Ebay ones for £160 :o i'd snap up a set if they carried RS ones.
Hi and welcome :)
Nice looking RX8. I had a Focus ST-2 prior to the Clio as well, I can honestly say I find the 172 CUP every bit as much fun, although as you'll know its a totally different type of fun (nothing comes close to that 5 pot ST roar... lol). Easily get 36mpg when I have to use it...
It's a Renault it makes lots of noises ;) hehe. Not so that I've noticed to be honest but your description sounds very similar. If it's not that hard a job I think I'll take them off and double check before ordering them.
Not sure I just quoted my reg for the parts in the end... Thanks for...
Glad it sorted it :) mines def getting worse, feels even more skittish at slower speeds now - did you have the part numbers from Renault?
Nm found them £49 each :) did you have any probs at all? I don't mind having a go, but I'm no mechanical veteran! :)
Ah thanks Marco for confirming that (sorry to hijack your thread another172! lol). I guess I'll jack the car up tomorrow to check my dampers :) (maybe I just need to learn to drive hehe)
Good luck with it :)
Yeah, tbh I trust the garage who looked at it, its a friend's dads - but I will jack it up tomorrow just to have a quick look. One thing they did pick up on was LSV spring missing. I'd never heard of a LSV - apparently its something to do with the weight distribution - but...
I have TOYOs on my CUP mainly because I just got it and the fronts were already TOYOs so when I replaced the rears I went like with like. I ran TOYOs on my Fiesta ST though and never had a problem. Good tyre, not too bad with regard to road noise and not bad in the wet.
Best tyres I ever ran...
I'm wondering if this is the same thing i've noticed with my 172 CUP. When I corner right at speed the backend occasionally feels a bit light and seems to want to straighten itself up - find myself having to make small adjustments to the steerings wheel. Doesn't seem to do the same thing when...
Hi all,
Thought I should be polite and say a quick hello :)
Just recently bought myself a Clio 172 CUP. After a few niggly little problems with the car, happy to say its now (/smashes on wood) running great and handles fantastic.
Bought the car after having owned a 1.2 Polo (needed a quick...
I've recently just bought my 172 CUP. I've also owned a Fiesta ST previously.
tbh, I had a lot of niggly little problems with the CUP it when I bought it... thinking you are going to buy a CUP for around £3k is ok, but one thing to remember is its going to be a 7 year or so old car, so make...
