After replacing the sensor kit (£50 parts from Renault), it turns out the actual problem was the starter motor "control" wire (single wire with spade connector).
It simply was corroded and wasn't making good contact. It was the wiggling of different sensor cables that moved the whole loom enough...
Thanks Fred, so your saying that by me wiggling the cable (pictured), its moving a cable around further up the loom on the crank TDC sensor?
So it's not worth trying to clean then, as its intermittent?
Would you recommend I just get a new sensor and wiring kit from Renault (they say the design...
This is preventing my car from starting intermittently.
I have to wiggle it and get someone to repeatedly try to start the engine until I move the cable into a certain position for it to work.
It's just on the right of the alternator and is connected to the same loom.
Clio MK2 PH2 1.2 2004...
- Done a sensible 3 hour drive to Creamfields last weekend (all motorway), and got 58mpg for the trip!
- Normal driving I average 42mpg.
- Spirited driving I can't get it below 37.5mpg.
(No engine mods.)
All,
I'm looking for the 2 small bolts which hold the exhaust onto the middle and rear mounts.
They screw into the exhaust arms and prevent the exhaust from leaving the mount.
I'm going to the dealer at lunch, but as I usually have trouble with them getting the correct parts I was wondering if...
Ok :approve:
I think I'm going to put that wheel on the rear for piece of mind!
I'd rather still have steering if it decides to blow :o
Gutted though! Typical!
Too busy beeping at a friend and I ran into a kerb at about 10-15mph.
The wheel went onto the kerb, it did not just bounce off it.
Here is the damage to the wheel and tyre.
Do you think it's safe?
Just had 4 new Continental PremiumContact 5's all round last week!!!
The second picture is when...
Lol - just found this thread for the first time..
Read the first 4/5 pages and everyone hating (for the right reasons) but then skipped to the end and it looks like you saw the light and now have a nice car!
Minus the rear lights though.
- Exhaust clamp needs replacing as its not sealing correctly - so it's blowing loudly and I look a right tit!
- Near-side rear light needs replacing. It's cracked and causing disco lights on my dash due to wet electronics!
- Burning a little bit of oil :quiet:
- It's dirty :sleepy:
I need to remove my KTEC stainless pipe and put it back together in a new position as it is not sitting right.
I will need to remove the back section from the middle section, but when I put it together I used exhaust sealant and a clamp. :dapprove:
I have tried to remove the clamp and twist...
