Hi all,
I’ve read some previous threads but looking for some definitive answers to this.
I recently got a DCI 80 “Privilege”. Has pretty much everything but cruise and I’d really like it, I use it all the time in the 182.
Which things are needed, and what is needed to be done?
I’m guessing...
This is more like a spray sealant rather than a QD as mentioned above.
Great to use after a wash for some easy protection. Watched some good videos about it on YouTube, testing its durability etc and it’s absolutely mega for a spray on product. I enjoyed using it, happy with the results so I’ll...
Tried it out today on the newly acquired daily. Not worth showing pics of the result, will wait until I’ve used it on the 182 for that.
I used it though an Autobrite Trigger bottle for more of a mist on the panel, proper 500gsm buffing towel to apply and another to buff.
Wasn’t bad to apply...
I’ve heard that, apparently because it doesn’t contain silicone like some other products, but that also works in its favour for durability.
I’ve always used two cloths for application and buffing anyway so hopefully should be alright! I think like most products it’s using them in the right way...
One of Autobrite's with their chemical resistant trigger, but there are plenty of similar ones about, I just have some of these lying around.
I have a few of them for various products that I either buy in bulk or dilute. Great bottles, and great for this because you can alter the spray pattern...
Decided to take a punt on some of this the other night after seeing @Danith's post above. Excited to give it a try, some other people I trust on detailing seem to rate it too so we shall see! Can't complain at £8 for 750ml.
Got a different bottle with a better sprayer to put it in too, should...
I had the same issue when fitting mine.
As mentioned above I just elongated some of the holes, and drilled new holes where necessary. My driver's seat is still slightly off centre but nothing major, they aren't bang on central as standard, just you have the room to budge over in the standard seats.
It’s almost literally a completely different car now! I think the shell is the only thing I haven’t changed on this from when you saw it 😂
Have to have a nosey once the nicer weather returns!
Definitely! I drove @JamesBryan’s which has the Quaife on some roads near us a while ago, and I was staggered at the extra mechanical grip, and then also the traction and composure it gained. Even little bumps or crests in the road where it would upset one wheel and lose traction normally, with...
As James says, we were chasing the same thing on mine.
Found that the rear right subframe bolt could be tightened up a turn or so, also just about squeezed a spanner in to get to the nut on the other side to stop it spinning and make sure it was tight.
Knock has disappeared, much more pleasant...
This arrived  As some will know, this will make a night and day difference.
Box is being rebuilt currently then this will be going in. Very excited.
Cheers! You’ll love the PP’s, one of the best things I’ve done to the car, they’re expensive, but no other seat will do after you’ve sat in one compared to other buckets. Support in all the right areas without being restrictive, and really comfy! Get what you pay for 🤷🏻♂️
Cheers mate...
Mine are Magneti Marelli IWP043’s, from a PMS ITB kit originally.
So they’re not actually 197 ones, but are 330cc like 197 ones, I believe the 197 ones have like a long nossle on them?
This Gyeon Trim has held up very well so far, still as clear as the day I did them 6 months ago. Not bad for a simple application!
£2500 including mapping. Could be worse considering £330 of that was the valves.
Seems like a lot for the “gain” but this build was more to refresh and bulletproof...
Moving on to 2019 then, and the car didn't see any trackdays last year. Life and work getting in the way sadly! But it gave me opportunity to do a number of little tidy up jobs and things that mean it's just in much nicer shape than it was in preparation for some bigger bits and lots of...
It's been a while!
18 months on, and a fair amount of chance since, car is looking and driving significantly better than it was.
As I'm sure I've mentioned above, the plan with the new engine was to retain all of the things like standard inlet, throttle body, AC, PAS, to retain cruise...
Got a set of these a couple of weeks ago as mentioned above.
Seem great so far, definitely quieter and smoother to drive on than the old ones. Grip seems good, but it's been cold and mostly greasy, only had them in the dry a handful of times. They feel as soft as the old ones to the touch etc...
Hold up. Let’s get Carl’s side first before any judgements are made.
He’s done loads of work on mine including a full engine build last year, and his work and knowledge was incredible. We kept in contact regularly. He’s always been nothing but sound with me, and many many others.
This doesn’t...
Mine has 197 pistons, in 182 block and 182 head, with 197 cams like Chris mentioned.
Mine’s using the three prong spark plugs, not sure I’m right in saying, but I think because they’re cooler because it’s now high comp with the pistons.
@bloke built mine so I’m sure he can give you more insight.
Major dedication on this Mark! Wasn't exactly shabby as it was.
On the wiper blank, you're better off with one of the new Kill All Wipers flush kits, very neat. Guy who runs it is close to me, going to go and see him and get one for mine once I have the car back.
Cheers! Can’t wait to get it back, should be great to drive with some more shove but still keeping that NA character.
Don’t think I’m around for it sadly! Wanted to go too.
I know yeah, was being suspiciously reliable before it...
I’m hoping the tail end of this month all being well, maybe start of August but if so I’ll only be able to drive it towards the end of August being away for most of the beginning of the month. So fingers crossed for the end of this month.
