Great thread, nice to see the time and effort you've invested into this car is going to pay off. Love a clean Cup.
If you're looking for a local wheel refurbishment, I'd recommend Top Marques in Fenton, Stoke on Trent, did a great job on my Speedlines for the 197 Cup I previously owned. (Miss...
I got my 197 on 46k, it had a replacement with Renault at 37k miles. Sold the car at 74k miles, no issues with it at all. Swapped the gear oil at 15k mile intervals and the secret is probably to rev match your down shifts and how much you abuse your downshifts.
It's gutting really what I let it go for but I couldn't sell it, I probably advertised it too late but someone got a steal with that car. I do missi it in a way.
Thanks, they really are an awesome car and so much fun. I haven't driven it at all this month, just waiting for the salt to go and then I'll bring it out again. If you're local to me I'd take you out in it
Well, i took it out for the first time in a couple of weeks yesterday. I hate not using it but i also don't want to use it in the crappy weather at the moment. Only covered about 50 miles or so but loved every minute. Also passed a White 200 Cup on my travels, brought back some memories of my...
Stunning R27, remember seeing that car for sale and thought it would be my perfect 197. Previously owned a Nimbus 197 Cup for 2.5 years and I'll own another one day, as they get under your skin. Nice to see your 182 receiving plenty of tlc.
You sure know how to make a car look mint again, love the work you've done on the car bring it up to scratch. Went to Brecon in May and loved it in the 197 even though it hammered it down all weekend. Will take the GP next year but still yearn for a Clio again.
That's one of the best looking R56 JCW's i've seen. Proper colour and the wheels are the tits.
Interesting what you say about your decat, i love mine, isn't too loud on idle but open it up it sounds like a Mini Challenge car.
thanks, there's always a good bunch of cars out on a Wales sunday run.
I will get something organised in the new year mate and i'll take you out in the GP
I've read your thread a few times on the 197 and it looks a very tidy example. It's hard to value them sometimes in terms of what they're...
So, a new car.
Having owned what i would argue the best hot hatch of it's era, (2006 - 2012) the Clio 3 RS for the best part of 2.5 years i waved goodbye to my 197 Cup at the end of August this year. A change of job into car sales (Seat for those interested) allowed me to weigh up some tasty...
I really want a Meg 265 at some point but at the same time i know i will miss the Clio because i love the engine and as you say they're relatively refined for daily driving although i nearly melted about 3 weeks ago when we had the hot weather and no A/C :D
For now, i am more than happy with...
