blue 182 on Beverley bypass - East Yorks

No-one owning up? The road name is the A1079... the car went down into KINGSWOOD and turned right up THOMAS CLARKSON WAY in HULL.

blue 182 on Beverley bypass - East Yorks

... going backwards, in my rear view mirror. If you drive a 182 and were on the Beverley bypass trying to keep up with a black 03 plate Leon Cupra R on Saturday morning at around midday, then it was a worthy attempt. Don't be too dismayed; you still have a superb car, with excellent looks and...

    ...or not...

    The 197 - a waste of time?

Also if I see 197 bhp and the figures that go down on paper next to it aren't as impressive as a car with 172 bhp written next to it, what am I to think? Do I think: (a) I know I'll go and spend £16k on something that costs THREE THOUSAND POUNDS more and doesn't perform as well? or (b)...

    The 197 - a waste of time?

Oh, I don't know. Their dealer network is rubbish, and I've never had a car EVER have to go into the garage so often for niggly silly little things, and some more major ones. Granted: performance and handling of the 172 Cup was wonderful and I loved the car... but reliability was rubbish...

    The 197 - a waste of time?

I have never driven a car before or since that handled better than my Cup... re the 197, if I'd wanted a 206 GTi, I'd have bought one. Think I'll stick with my 162,000 mile, ten year old BMW after all.

    The 197 - a waste of time?

"Acceleration from standstill to 62 mph requires a mere 6.9 seconds, while the kilometre standing start is covered in just 27.5 seconds. Top speed is 134 mph. With a combined cycle fuel consumption of 31.7 mpg (209g of CO2/km), New Clio Renaultsport's fuel consumption is amongst the lowest of...

    New Clio???

and really quite ugly to boot. The Phase 2 Mark 2 Clio is the best looking Clio ever, and they certainly haven't come close to it before or since. MInd, all cars are getting very samey at the moment.

    fogs!!!!!!!

Well if you start talking eyesight, then who's being petty now, but since you're asking, I am one line better than 20:20 - that's perfect vision. Granted it is your choice, but it is still bizarre, barely credible, illegal and above all else, BLOODY DANGEROUS. If it was me who stopped you...

    fogs!!!!!!!

Well, I thought I would give this kid's theory a trial tonight. So, on the way home from visiting my cousin, who lives in the countryside far from anything so modern as a street lamp, I flicked off my main beam that was lighting up the road (and hadn't caused me not to see the approach of...

    fogs!!!!!!!

Me too, but it rarely makes the slightest bit of difference. The drivers of the car in front or behind with fogs on is either stupid, incompetent, or simply an ignorant tw@t, and they'll either start tail-gating, or slam on, or just look baffled. But hey, I do live in Hull, a town high on the...

    fogs!!!!!!!

If you deal with the small crimes, a lot of worse ones can be avoided. In other words come down heavy on, fog lights, silly neons in the wrong place, and hopefully people will avoid the heaftier fines that come with other offences, the heaviest fine of all, being death.

    fogs!!!!!!!

^^ and what about those who do not indicate at all?
  14. J

    fogs!!!!!!!

Well, now you come to mention it.... Fog lights on, breaking the speed limit, no seatbelt - they may carry different penalties, but at the end of the day, there is no difference: they are all road traffic offences, and in committing them, you are breaking the law. If there is one person...

    fogs!!!!!!!

No I didn't. Sorry if I gave that impression. It was just a general remark re the general concensus that all the Police do is nail motorists. (I know it feels that way with the million trillion cameras there are on the roads, but hey!)

    fogs!!!!!!!

Rubbish! I've never not seen another car coming cos I've had full beam on on a country lane in 11 years of driving (lots) !!

    fogs!!!!!!!

    What?!?!?!?!?!?
  18. J

    fogs!!!!!!!

Don't agree entirely. My sidelights are quite bright for dusk time, but the reason I use them is when it is not dark enough for dipped beam, but shadows are cast across my dash, and illuminating the dials stops me from getting eye strain!
  19. J

    fogs!!!!!!!

True, Mike! And worse still those that drive around and you see them day in day out with only one headlight working. But as you say no lights in poor driving conditions: exec cars (generally grey or silver) in heavy spray, no lights -> FOOLS!
  20. J

    fogs!!!!!!!

First off: what Williams025 says is absolutely right. Secondly re the quote above, because, contrary to popular belief most Police are not concerned with "easy convictions" in motoring offences, and DO have far better things to be doing. Re whoever said having sidelights and fogs on is...

    Near death experience

Erm... well I should it's my job - and I have lots of fun thanks... just not the sort that kills people. I have to scrape people like you up, and it's not nice for us either

    fogs!!!!!!!

It's an ever increasing problem. I find that offering them the choice between a £30 ticket and switching them off tends to work.

    Near death experience

PMSL well what i think about this post is that it should be deleted and classed in the same vein as dangerous road racing posts which are encouraging activities which can result in in a worst case scenario loss of life but at best damage to people and cars which is expensive and costly for...

    WARNING!!! Cup to be avoided!!!

Wouldn't touch YY53 KSU either - but that's cos (a) it spent 1/4 the time I had it in the garage, with bunches of recess monkies from Dixons standing round it scratching their heads (and balls), and (b) I HPI'd it to see if it was still in existence, and according to the DVLA it has never...

    Greenlight Insurance

AS I WAS CONSIDERING BUYING PHATAIRS CUP, I EMAILED GREENLIGHT - AS PER THE ADVERT BELOW - FOR A QUOTE. THEY SAID "WE NO LONGER INSURE THE 172 CUP DUE TO THE HUGE NUMBERS OF CLAIMS. WE PUT THIS DOWN TO THE CAR HAVING NO ABS". PERSONALLY, I THINK THAT I WOULD PUT IT DOWN TO THE WAY PEOPLE DRIVE...
