Thanks, yeh to be fair it’s been bolted onto a rebuilt engine and gearbox so maybe got caught when getting re-fitted.
main concern was it could be related to some other gremlin!
cheers, Matt
Hey guys,
anyone seen this before and know what might have caused it... I’ve not got the starter out yet to see if any other damage to the unit.
It went at the end of a trackday (a while ago now!).
the starter is getting replaced but just wanting to understand what a potential cause might be!
Looks like a carbon copy lol! Interesting on the replacement, was expecting it to be a fair bit more than this, will start having a shop about as seems conclusive that it’ll need a new one based on comments
Ok thanks mate, was still warming the car up so hadn’t hit the limiter at all, but it...
So having just had a full cambelt service inc. dephaser pulley etc, PMS Aircon delete, new crank sensor, head and sump resealed , new clutch and fly wheel, the engine on my 182 let go 3 laps into Oulton Park track day yesterday (first time out since all the work was done)
took it straight to...
Just thought I’d update the thread as I’ve now fitted the tow wires.
I bought eyelet / shackles that are probably overkill, but will keep for now. Fairly straightforward just drilled 16mm hole in chassis and then used two 3mm steel plates either side and bolted the whole thing together.
Right so done some research tonight and ordered m16 80 HT lifting eyes, 12mm shackles, 3x50x50mm steel plates and m16 nuts / washers.
Also got the bumper off this morning and identified where I’m going to fix them to (similar position to Tom but obviously without the custom plate to bolt into)...
Tom did you weld the eyelets in or bolted onto the chassis - also looks like that’s a custom plate you’ve attached it to is that right?
Was hoping it would be a slightly less involved job!
Matt
has anyone done this to recommended standard yet e.g 2 x front and rear with M10 bolt or higher
I’m not sure if I’m just being thick, but really struggling to get my head around how I’m going to properly secure them and can’t find much advice online
Any advice / examples?
Matt
Ok thanks, did manage to get it on but like I say not without a significant amount of brute force.
Wouldn’t have expected there to be any horizontal movement though, even if it is only 1-2mm (once the plate is in this stops any movement but suspect that is not what it’s there for!)
Hi,
Replaced o/s driveshaft today, I’ve got it done but two questions:
1st: the new shaft did not go on easy at all, I’ve had to absolutely whack it to get it all the way onto the gearbox, has anyone else experienced this? I cleaned everything and new shaft was greased (Renault re-furb from...
Thanks Tony for clarifying, I do think the wording in the regs could be a little clearer to be fair.
Think it will be coming off initially rather than pro+!
Matt
hi,
I’ve fitted the PMS strut brace and top mounts (http://www.pure-motorsport.co.uk/front-strut-top-mounts-and-strut-brace.html) and then re-read the regs for production class F in tricolore trophy and I’m concerned it might not be compliant. what are people’s interpretation of the below...
Went to Croft on Friday - was a really good day - weather held out, only 35 cars and the car was faultless all day.
Two main issues for me were:
- tyres/tyre wear - was struggling massively for grip in some of the corners and was noticably slower than some other comparable motors - the plan is...
So quickest fix to the brake issue was a new caliper - 70 quid once I get the surcharge back so not too bad at all.
unfortunately the braided line on that corner was not letting any fluid through at all so I've had to revert back to the oem for now - no idea what's happened as it's brand new...
Cheers for comments guys - bit of an update from this weekend:
had a few jobs to do in prep for Croft:
- replace top engine mount
- replace dogbone mount
- Brake refresh (Brembo HC, CL5+, KTR braided lines, change fluid to ATE Blue
- Fit missing spigot ring
Got through most of it with no...
I've been on the forum for a while now and had the clio for 3 years but it has mainly been used for community / work - until now! as I've finally sorted a company car - so clio is purely for fun now.
First track day was Combe earlier this year - was a huge learning curve - i turned up with my...
I've probably spoken to u before then - cars been there a number of times and there for parts occasionally.
I'll keep an eye out for ur 200t, what colour?
Not me but also seen black 197, blue ph1 and white 200 (think that's tomtombanban) - quite a few round here - I'm in a silver 182 - but spends most time in garage
Spotted a couple of Vee's at Silverstone Classic - think i've seen the grey Vee before on here - looks great!
