I have done lots of track days on 15' and 16" wheels, the big thing you will notice on 15's is pick up/acceleration feels a lot better. At Castle Combe camp corner on 16's is 3rd gear, on 15's is 4th gear. Just one corner on one track but it does show how much difference a lightweight 15"...
So I need some more room on the back of my Clio and have been looking at ways to narrow the rear track (I run wide wheels with a low offset) I noticed that 172 rear stub axles are about 8mm thinner each side than 182 ones. Can I just run 172 ones on my 182 therefore lowering the track by 16mm...
Its more fun tho when its a treat!! Mine only comes out now and then these days, mostly because its not a nice place to sit for more than 20 minutes lol
Thats cool :) No my LY is gone now, I was using it on track and got scared lol. I have a Megane Sport 175 as a daily and a BG 182 for track use now altho I keep looking at LY R26's... I did love the colour!!
Mine will be here today so il bolt it on and when next out on track see if I can feel anything other than placebo!! Worse case it stops my helmet hammock flapping around in the back when pushing!!
What bout if you run a rear coil over set up? I have just ordered a strut brace and I run the GAZ with rear coil over setup, figured it must help by tying the tops together?
Give mine a go first mate, then if you don't like it you have only wasted £60/70 but there isn't anything to not like. Pickup felt lots better and gear changes smoother, not that you need it with that PMS Shifter ;)
I have a new standard gearbox, solid dogbone, new standard upper engine with powerflex black insert, engine goes nowhere and a fraction if the cost of the others :)
I have my old 182 wheels with Federal RSR tyres on that I will be replacing with 15's, anyone got an idea on what I should put them up for? Tyres have done a couple of track days but have a few left in them still :)
