It's actually quite tricky to find any web forums at all for Valvers nowadays. There's an active Facebook group, but that's not the same thing as a proper Forum. The WIlliamsClio forum is pretty dead tbh - lots of tumbleweed. There's something on TurboRenault...
Not been much going on for the past few weeks as have been travelling a lot with work... however removed carbs, cleaned, new Misab plates, new Pipercross filter.
The car is now in having a new timing belt fitted, then it's off to the rolling road for proper setup.
Hoping to get it out on...

The first of my Monaco Blue 172’s... I bought this from @imprezaworks
A great car that unfortunately suffered an...
Pics of the castor and camber adjusters on the rear beam, along with the AST's. @nath&alex
The aluminium spacer has been custom machined, is slotted, and rotates to adjust both camber and castor - unfortunately not independently, it's both together, so it's a case of finding that happy...
Absolutely! I go all over the place - Cadwell, Oulton, Donington, Bedford, Brands, Pembrey, Thruxton, Combe etc... PM me when you're up and running again.
After I've checked the car over thoroughly I may get to Brands on 10th/11th April if I can fit it in with work, which will be its first...
I just bought this - a 1990’s ex Clio Cup Racer.
This is a genuine UK Clio Cup car, manufactured during week 50 of 1990 as confirmed by an official letter from Renault to one of the previous owners.
Surprisingly (for what was known as a pretty destructive race series) it’s on its original...
800lbs front? Holy Moly that must be stiff like crazy.
I am running 550lbs front, 400lbs rear on my Gas Golds. I tried 650lbs front and the car wouldn't turn in well at all. A race instructor who drove with me commented how poorly the car drove... just wanted to continue in a straight line...
Which electric blower are you getting? And is it just a cold air blower, or is it heated?
The heater has been removed in my track car and the screen keeps misting up - have been looking into options...
The problem is, I've removed the entire heater system and need to find a solution to the screen misting up. I'm now wishing I hadn't removed it, but hey ho, its done now.
Just trying to figure out the best as well as most cost effective solution.
Dedicated Track Car - interior completely stripped and heater deleted.
Am trying to decide between the T7 heater with ducting and vents in dash (approx £120) versus a heated windscreen (approx £260 + fitting ? + wiring?) so the screen sounds like an expensive proposition.
Which clears the...
Honestly, I just don't get why some people feel the need to criticise what others want to do... If he wants to take a track day/fun toy to the limit... why the heck not??
Go for it Leslie. I think this is an interesting project.

Harness mounting bar is far from ideal, it's much too far back, introducing extra elongation in the event of a frontal impact (it would be better to be mounted straight from the main hoop). Plus, as Pauleds states, the design...
I can't help with real-world experience of tracking an X85 Cup car, but the below may help regarding the differences between a 172/182 and a 197:
I tracked a fully prepared 172 for a year and now track my road-going 197 Cup, which was bog standard for the past 3 years until 2 weeks ago when it...
I've been towing my track/race cars for years...
Top Tip:
When reversing, adjust your seat to a high position (or use your left arm on the passenger seat to bolster you as you raise your butt up off the seat) in order to look up and over and out the back of the car as you reverse.

Resurrecting an old thread here but....
Mine is damaged (son went over high kerb on track and put a big hole in it).
Does it provide any bracing or locating for the front bumper, or can it literally just be binned?
I have both and have tracked both extensively.
197 has much better brakes and I always catch my mates in their 172's under hard braking.
197 agility through corners is better.
172/182 more raw, more engaging (not to say the 197 isn't engaging, but I didn't find it quite the same)
172/182...
I'm selling this one but needs to go by next weekend as if not I'm spending big money on it.
£2,150. Car is currently in Swadlincote, Derbyshire.
