I managed to get a brand new set of genuine 172/182 metal pedal covers a couple of years ago rediculously cheap from German eBay. Bet they're worth a few quid now.
On the battery negative the cable comes off to the battery tray but what earth's the battery tray ? Is it the bolts which hold the tray on or actually the tray itself ?
I have a earthing issue after fitting a gearbox to the 172.
Cheers
Funny you should say that. I actually did have mud flaps fitted on the front for the first couple of years it was new (still got them) but decided the car looked better without them.
It's just about keeping on top of undercoating and rust prevention before it starts.
2001 phase 1.
Think anyone owning a 172 / 182 rust prevention needs to be top priority. I considered mine to be well looked after, always garaged from new till recently, jet washed arches etc etc - petrol tank area and filler cap are showing early signs of rust coming in.
Knew the jacking point was bad but after poking about managed to push through this bit of the underside.
Question is: is this most likely to have rusted due to the jacking point or is there any water drainage points around here ?
Don't know how true this is but I was told by a mechanic friend who frequents mechanics forums and some well known motor factors are renowned for selling fake branded stuff so wonder how many failed valeos are actually genuine valeos....
Chances of them coming into your house are slim in reality. They're only after easy pickings.
Maybe if there was some serious metal sitting on the drive them it puts people at a higher risk but then if they were happy for a confrontation they could easily just drag you out of the car at a set...
Just on the subject of the fitting kit. I ditched the kit bolts and used the biggest random steel bolts which would fit through the springs.
It's been on the car for over 10 years now and the gasket is still sealing perfect with no issues what so ever.
Imo the standard kit bolts are a terrible...
Apologies for the thread crash.
Why do Megane turbo pistons (low comp so sit lower down the bores) hit the Clio valves with vvt yet if you run high compression (sit nearer the valves) Clio pistons they don't ?
When I went in to Renault, the one part number came up with a image of about 4 different kinds so those ph2 kick plates you have will probably be the same part no. as the ph1 172 version.
Any confirmation if it sold? It's round the corner from me this car although don't know the lad and never seen the car.
Also mention of a potential buyer being a Clio breaker ? Not the big Clio breaker at Longtown by any chance?
Is this the correct AT Power one? The arm looks the wrong way round unless you put the cable from underneath.

Jenvey also do one but it's 70mm.
400+ from Renault a couple of years ago on special order. If they have stopped doing them then aftermarket ones is going to be the only option unless someone can make replacement springs
