Sorted. Compression was identical across all 4 cylinders, so I went back through everything electrical today. It was a dodgy HT lead on cyl2, after all that! (I'd tried my spare set, but not since swapping the injector).
Running perfectly again.
Last couple of Q's.
Can I reset the check...
Yep, I've tried that too, swapping the injectors over on the rail... And the damn misfire just won't move.
Wouldn't a cylinder fault be more likely to come on and get worse gradually though? The fact it was running perfectly one moment, and then as if a switch flicked, it was running on 3, made...
I meant the injector leads - I swapped these around between cyls 2 and 3 and the misfire didn't move...
Haven't tried swapping ht leads around between the cyls, but swapped for a whole spare coil pack/set of leads. No difference. So I think that rules that out.
I guess the logical next thing...
That's the one, Monaco. Hasn't missed a beat since you had it, until this!
Sounds normal to me while cranking, yep. You thinking that would be a sign of low compression on that Cyl?
Na I don't have a noid light, I could possibly get hold of/buy one, but again if it wasn't firing the one...
It's RX51***, you had you had it in for an engine swap when it blew a plug out of the head.
I thought it was injector too, especially as cyl3 injector had failed 100 miles ago, but I've tried swapping cyl2 with cyl3 (which runs fine so the injector must be good) and the misfire stays with...
Dan,
Thanks, the car's been down to your place before and I'd definitely bring it down again if I thought it was ok to drive, but without a diagnosis I wouldn't want to drive that far on 3 cyls in case I caused damage.
Thanks though mate
Hi,
I've checked the wiring by swapping the cables from cyl2 and cyl3 over - the misfire remains on cyl2.
I've also checked with a multimeter that power is getting to both injectors, which it is.
Is there anything else I need to/can check, wiring wise?
Thanks
I've been struggling to diagnose a misfire for the last couple of weeks, hopefully one of you lot with vastly superior knowledge of these cars might be able to help.
The initial problem occurred during heavy rain, car was running perfectly, then I parked up, returned it it and started it up...
According to Renault parts direct the part number is 7701035664. In case anyone finds this thread in the future.
Cheers everyone for your help, hope the part fits.
sweet, thanks Ben.
do you reckon I'd get the remains of that out with needlenose pliers?
ie does it need a proper tug or do they come out pretty easily?
cheers
Yeah 180degs around the rod, so the clip is on the far side of the rod as you look at it, that's what I reckoned.
Just need to know if it's replaceable separately (ie if it comes out of the latch), and whether it's sourceable from Renault.
I'd give glue a whirl, but I know it'd only last 5...
The threaded end of the rod is still attached to the handle fine, it's the other end I'm having issues with, please have a look at my thread here:

Stu, did you get to the bottom of this?
I have the exact same problem I think...

Did you get to the bottom of this, Rob?
I'm also having latch/handle/bar issues, if you've had it all to bits, do you have any idea re. my problem?

Hi all,
My exterior driver's door handle stopped working at the weekend. The interior handle and central locking still working fine.
Took the door card off, this rod that goes from the exterior handle to the latch is hanging loose, and looks like the white plastic clip that holds it in place...
An update to this saga, and request for more advice..
Everyone who said it was a blown plug was bang on. Thanks for the quick diagnosis...
I was forced to leave the car in Cheshire for the week with a mechanic, who helicoiled it, after which it was running perfectly. The plug in question had...
Thanks for the ideas,
I'm at my girlfriend's so unfortunately without my tools, I can't even get the engine cover off to have a look!
Forgot to say that no dash warning lights came on, if that makes any difference.
It does smell slightly of fuel under the bonnet when running, which makes me...

Hi,
First post on here, and not one I wanted to make!
Tracked my 01 172 yesterday at Llandow, which was a brilliant day, and then made a 3.5hr trip up to Chesh. Then 3 miles from my destination lost all power, however there was no initial bang, and the engine kept running, just no power at all...
