Yo Guys, I have a 53 plate iceberg silver 172 on 87k miles. Full Service History, belts and dephaser changed last year, MOT due in April. It's currently on O.Z racing superturismo wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres all with good life left in them. It has a cup spoiler, cooksport springs...

I have checked them and can't find any play in them. The noise can only be replicated when the suspension is loaded so I jacked up the suspension and still no play.

Would you recommend getting them changed anyway? They're pretty cheap

Thanks for the reply bloke. I've jacked it up twice with no luck in finding anything. I'm not sure if it's because a human can't replicate the noise? I did find some lateral movement in the driveshaft but no longitudinal motion. I took a video so people could tell me if it's normal.

It happened to me on my MOT too. They said I had a "servicable track rod" and a loose macpherson strut. Took it to a specialist to check it over and he said none of the sort and that everything was fine. They also quoted me £500+ for a change in the front and rear discs & pads.

Failed an MOT on headlight washers.

I have 195/45/16s at the moment. Is there any significant advantage to using 45s over 50s? Also, will I experience any rubbing due to the bigger profile and the lower cooksports?

I would normally just go with Admiral and that'd be it. But, Adrian flux with the hire car, drive other cars with third party, European days etc. You all seem to be recommending Admiral though. Apologies for double post

Were the hankooks that bad? There are mixed reviews and thinking about buying some wheels with them already on. Some people say they're eally good, others not so good. @Nobafett

Told you ;) Get a refund, don't get it fixed, he sold you a clocked car. This happened to me as well, the dealer gave me my money back straight away.

Your engine has been clocked as well, it could be a 120k+ car for all you know, and with the condition it's in, get rid of it. Don't bother getting it fixed, you'll find a much better and genuine car for the same prices.
