i slept in the 172 for 3 nights in holland, and it was pretty comfy really. sleeping bag, pillow, sorted. also slept in it at spa, and on many a trip across the country when ive nearly fallen asleep in traffic and had to stop at a service station. surprisingly easy to get some decent sleep.
lee is correct.
any 172 owners should be considering seriously whether they can afford to lose on average between £300-500 a MONTH on their cars. ive had mine since april and will lose nearly £2k on it.
the value wont go up, and bear in mind that a new body shape clio is coming out next year...
sorry for being slow on the uptake on this.
as i understand it, theres 2 different ways of measuring bhp. one is direct from the engine, the other is through the tyres. renault clearly do it directly through the engine, while peugeot appear to do it in reality terms. the bhp on a mini for...
the 172 exclusive is worth quite a bit more than standard 172s, and definitely more than a cup.
with low mileage on a y reg youd be looking at around 9500.
if its cheaper than that buy it, and take care of it. youll get pretty much the same price for it when you sell it.
the exclusive...
saw one with the stripes being delivered to a showroom on the back of a transporter on the way back from brands last weekend. personally, im not a fan, i wouldnt drive one because its just asking for attention (from the police, for example...), but it looks alright with the blue. this one had...
ive just driven to zandvoort in holland, and filled up with 97 over here and 98 over there and i dunno if this makes sense but ive had an extra 10-20 miles out of a tank and its a lot less asthmatic. it runs smoother and happier and if it wasnt an extra few quid a tank that i cant really afford...
ahhh i know that car, they tried to salvage an engine sensor from my car at snetterton this year for it so they could run the bloody thing in quali. it was entered in the gt championship, and went through engines and parts like jodie marsh goes through boyfriends. definitely not worth the money...
i thought about having it mapped like a formula renault for the weekend for the hell of it, but decided id probably wipe the engine out. might investigate the differences between the clio race car and this one because its easy to get it sorted to get more bhp out of.
i know the v6 is nearly a...
actually, i got the golf to a much higher top speed, and it was much more comfortable when i did get it there. it also handled far more predictably, and far easier to get controllable oversteer on.
oh well, silly me for daring to saying theres a nicer car than a 172/182.
DONT DO IT!!!!
i had a 1997 vr6 before i got the 172, and i miss it soo much (except for the fuel)
1. youll miss the engine performance. without tuning it up, youll find the clio engine really dull.
2. the noise! the clio sounds like a sewing machine...
its largely related to the...
this is interesting cause im just about done with my 172. i was also looking at an a3, couldnt find an s3 within my budget. thing with the a3s is the new ones are so damn sexy they make the old ones look horrible :S
i had a golf vr6 before the 172, and it was a great car. drank fuel like an...
i went from a 1.6 to driving a bmw m3 within about 6 months of passing my test and was fine. then again, i did a huge amount of driving, i dont do anything daft and i do tons of miles. i used to swap cars around a lot, drove all sorts of things.
just make sure youre used to the stopping and...
after recent renault service people experience im never having another renault again, and im getting shot of this one (as much as its the most gorgeous looking car ever) as soon as i find something better for the same money.
i think id rather not have a fault myself. then again, i suppose you...
apparently you can tell how many times your odometers been reset from the ecu, although i wouldnt guess at how to get to that info.
im beginning to think thrashing a v6 could be the perfect job though ;)
thing is, guys, would you rather your car came to you with a serious problem, or had 40...
yeah but i think road angel is the best system for false alarms? thats what id heard anyway.
my mate has one and he thinks its fantastic. its also slowed him down quite a bit, which is saying something!
mine did that 3 beep thing today, shortly after having a fit (and really annoying the neighbours) because the car battery was running low.
thanks as always to camden renault in northampton who were on the ball as usual. problem with your alarm? cant go anywhere? no problem, we can book your...
santa pod, eww, no, i prefer to think of it as 90 minutes from castle combe and 100 from brands hatch... and 6 hours to the mighty knockhill ;)
stalking you boyracer? nahh, got better things to do like, uh...
originally (not knowing much about the 172) i read there was 350 of the cars, then learnt there was 172 here, so i assume its 350 in the world, 172 lhd, 172 (173?) rhd.
still think theyre the best looking out of all the 172/182s. saw mine on its own in a car park at donington yesterday and...
get the exclusive!
ive spotted people staring at mine in carparks at race tracks, its a rare one too so its going to keep its value better.
as far as i know mine on 30,000 is worth as much as an unregistered new 172 cup so its got to be the wise choice.
plus yellow draws attention to...
