New but used

  Clio v6

A certain person has just told me that it is now Renaults policy to test drive all RenaultSport cars for between 40 - 70 miles before delivery to the dealer in the UK.

Does anyone have this in black and white?

It doesnt effect me, but it may bother some new owners.

Blimey! :O 40-70 miles? surely that cant be right? I mean, a few miles around the storage compound or something to check that the rattle level isnt above the max allowed, but no need for more than that... I mean, are they gonna actually fix anything they find? LoL

My last V6 had 7 miles on the clock, anymore and it was going to be their new demo.

Sounds to me like it allows the dealer to book about 10 test drives and get away with it.

The testing is supposed to be done in France though?

The minute the tracker is fitted, It should be activated. I wouldnt mind a few calls from the monitoring service if it meant I knew where the car is until I received it.

Surely they can reset this at the factory?

If mine has excessive milage next week, believe me Ill be handing it straight back with a few choice words.

After ordering a new car, I expect a new car, not one with 50miles on the clock, when theres no way of telling whether those 50miles were gentle or ragged.

<--4 miles on the clock. But that doesnt mean they dont disconnect the odometer at the dock at the weekends...

Apparently delivery mileage can be up to 499 miles, the bloke warned me (while I was ready to reject it)... before showing me my mileage was 9 miles!!!

Worrying though, spend all that money for a not new car!

Mine was 7 when I picked mine up and the dealer admitted he did 2 of those to go and get decent fuel for me.

apparently you can tell how many times your odometers been reset from the ecu, although i wouldnt guess at how to get to that info.

im beginning to think thrashing a v6 could be the perfect job though ;)

thing is, guys, would you rather your car came to you with a serious problem, or had 40 miles on the clock but was another car because your original one had a fault and they didnt want to give it to you?

Would be bad if they take em out.

Apparently you should never take an Escort Cosworth to Fords for a service. Ive heard so many stories about them coming back with an extra 10 - 20 miles on the clock meaning some 17 year old YTS grease monkeys probably been pounding your pride and joy!!

after recent renault service people experience im never having another renault again, and im getting shot of this one (as much as its the most gorgeous looking car ever) as soon as i find something better for the same money.

i think id rather not have a fault myself. then again, i suppose you pay the extra for having a new car for something, and one of the priveleges must be a car with like, 10 miles on it.

To my mind I would say anything under 20 miles is ok. Anymore than that is unacceptable because they simply cant guarantee it hasnt been used for tests drives.

If I wanted a car with 50 to 500 miles on the clock I would buy an ex-demo at a saving of thousands over the price of a new model. By selling demos at a large discount dealers are admitting that the product is not "as good as new", I therefore cant see how they can claim that anything under 499 is classed as acceptable delivery mileage.

I am buying online and the broker will buy it from an unnamed Renault dealer and deliver it to my door....I wonder how many miles will be added there? In the case of my car I guess I would accept a 100 or so miles if it has been driven to my house from a dealer at the other end of the country.
