As above, aux belt is the real enemy, also the aux belt tensioner seizing on its pivot. The aux belt snapping will kill these engines by wiping the timing belt out as they let go.

Not really sure on the prices. They keep getting rolled out over and over on eBay. I paid the same amount for my 200 (cup pack with spoiler) last year. Was up for £4500 initially.

Just a bit! Car feels a lot smoother with the new shaft, which makes me wonder how long that crack had been progressing and it must have been out of shape causing it to vibrate when accelerating.

Assuming cheap ass shaft prev fitted, new one is solid. Looks like the weld has been failed for a while going off the rusty crack. Just approaching redline in 2nd gear finished it off (the day before my booked track day). Lucky it wasn’t on track I guess!
