Are your headlights clouded at all? I've just gone for some clear halogen wipacs and osram nightbreaker unlimited on my mx5 and the light output is ridiculous now the high beam is so nice and white as well. So with the price of nightbreakers I'd try that and if it's really not good enough then...

I managed to fix it I had disconnected one of the earths or shorted one of the wires for the dash I imagine if you've got a roll cage going through it that might have done the same

Oh I had this problem with my clock same as yours no backlight wasn't the bulbs or fuses and the radio didn't work after I did the dash swap
