A valver engine wont fit in his clio without a fair bit of work, a 2.0 from a 172 should however.

yeah but its still like 3 seconds off the 0-60 time.... and maybe he doesnt want somet that big, just somet a lil more nippier and still cheap to run!

I would assume it still uses the same wiring loom and same engine mounts so not exactly a hard job...although someone eles should be able to reply, i doubt it wil be that much either for such a small conversion.

Should go in it has been done before not sure how many problem there were is your car a Mk 2 2 or a Mk2 1 ie triangular lights or not if it is a triangular light then the wiring maybe a bit more of a probelm due to the interwired systems. You will be better using a Mk 2 2 engine if you have a Mk2 2.

i was unware of them making the mk2 ph1 with a 1.2 16v engine?

If this is true then its the mk2 ph2 in which i reckon it should fit with no probs,

hopefully Ben R or someone will post a more positive answer

Dropping a 172 engine is is a big job.

If you want a 172 engine in there you might as well look for a crashed 172 and swop the bits over ie dash and everthing forward of the dash.

A 1.4 or 1.6 16V from a Mk2 2 (triangular lights Clio) would be the easist conversion.

Whats wrong with your own engine? Dropping another engine in isnt easy easier to find another 1.2 and have that put in.

if you get the engine out of the same phase clio as yours it will fit but youll need everything from under the bonnet inc the engine wiring loom. because of the immobiliser you will also need the plip keys and the ucbic (clio 2 phase 1) or the uch (clio 2 phase 2)
