1.2 gearbox fit a 172

found a cheap 1,2 gearbox with a speedo drive will the shafts fit does anyone know or know the ratio differences between the boxes on the cup 172 and a 1.2 box thanks dan

its alot of faffing about to put a 1.2 box in.

May aswell just get the one you have rebuilt.

thats alot more money, whys its so hard looks the same from the picture looks like it will fit on the bell housing just need to know if shafts fit, so does it fit then and any one know the max speed of a 1.2 box

someone must be able to help what bits the tricky bit does the clutch still fit on the shaft and do the driveshafts still fit please can someone shed some help on this ive just brought a new car so havent got the money to waste getting the correct box for it

Gearboxes can be had for £50 now- couple for sale in the FS section for that money.

yeah just i found a mint looking one thats rather close to me so dont have to travel so much as we all know its an arse of a job taking all the sub out ect so i dont want to fit a gearbox that will only last a couple of months

tbh as far as i know all these gearboxes on clios are all very identical an i doubt very much they would put smaller gears in to handle less power maybe smaller in size to have a shorter shift but i dont see why renault would completely redesign gears for each and every box, like the gears from a 172 might might be used as another gear in another box thats my guess anyway lol

yeah i do want to fit it buddy but i dont want the hassel to take it back out if i can only get 110mph thats why i thought i would ask to see if anyone on here thats been on here a good few years will have a ratio chart of the clio boxes or so
