1.2 Tyre Question

  AG 200
Hi,

I posted this question on Rs.co.uk but didnt really get an answer from anyone on there or the Renault bods.

My little sis baught a 1.2 Dynamique 58 plate and she has taken a chunk out of the tyre wall so need a new one.
Turns out that the tyres are Conti sport Contact 2s XL......Im just a bit confused why Renault would put CSC2 EXTRA LOAD tyres on a 1.2 clio that weighs hardly anything, why would it need Extra load capabilities.

She has no money so I will have to buy a tyre, which Ive been told must be an XL tyre due to the other 3 currently on there.

I asked Renault what the Tyres should be on the 1.2 Dynamique and was told the info was on the drivers door (as per my 200) , well its not and I cant find it in the handbook. Are the XL required for some reason.
Anyone here with a newish Dynamique got the same tyres?
Thanks Lee

I like to have all four the same or at least front and rear matching. But to be really honest its very common for people to have a bit of a miss match on tyres. As long as their the same profile tyres (+SIZE!) I really cant see there being a problem, just most would advise against it as different tyres have different characteristics.

Ive bought her the conti sport cont 2 XL but just wondered if it is standard for the dynamique to ship with those tyres. It was bought as new, a XL tyres with a 140mph speed rating on a 1.2 seems a bit optimistic.
Thanks guys.
