1.2 with loud bangs and flames what!!!

So i was casually driving home and a clio was infront of me 1.2 16v and it reved off and there was a loud bang and like a flame! Is that just like a decat or something i know re mapping on a 1.2 wouldn't really make a difference

little spark plug in the exhaust with its own little coil. you turn it on and it sparks, any unburned fuel gets ignited.

It may be just from a decat..my old MK1 1.4 RT used to pop a blue flame occasionally - i think you would only notice it at night though.
