1.5 dci engine woes

Not in a Clio, but same isn't it? (In a 2010 scenic).
Been running spot on, 125k on it.
Started up fine today, drove 2 yards, but either I stalled it - or it cut out, as I was hastily making a 3 point turn in the street.

Cranking but not firing. "Check injection" I think it said on the dash.
Cranked on and off for a few mins, still no joy.
Gave it a few mins as battery was going. Tried again, it fired but sounds like it's missing.
Parked or up and had to get in the other car for school run.

First things to check on these?
Fuel is ok and new.
@Brigsy is a lover of these motors?

Yours will be a newer one with the Siemens injectors and a bosch pump which are usually pretty solid

Try pump the fuel primer whilst someone cranks it. The fuel pipes are prone to letting air in

+1 the return fuel hose developed pin prick holes on both of mine, should fire straight up if you prime it a couple times first.

Diesel filter might be fucked if not changed for donkeys. Prime it up with hand primer if it has one and see if itll fire.

Id imagine its reporting low fuel pressure on diagnostics, check fuel pressure when cranking, need 250bar so the injectors open. Bit of sniff to fire it up and leakoff test an injector might be shot.

It started and drives fine now. f**k sake.
Anyway...
I can see air, constantly. Presuming I shouldn't?

Pipe from the tank (presumably) goes into a hand balloon and then that goes to the filter (can see air from balloon to filter) then from filter to the engine can see air there too.

Air in the diesel pipes is pretty normal from experience. I had same conk out and mine was high leakoff on 1x injector. The high leakoff also caused lots of air in the system. Do a leakoff test.
