Sounds like it could be the EGR Position sensor struggling or even a siezing/sticking valve itself... maybe time to remove it and give it a good blast out with something like a tin of brake cleaner. Don't breathe in the black s**t though cos it won't put hair on yer chest!!!

i had the valve off a few weeks ago and gave it a clean, might need a better clean i never spent much time on it lol, the light was on all the time and a checked it and one of the wires were out it, so i put it back in, and it turned the light off, but it still come on every now and again, when iton a think the car goes into asafe mode too... its f**ked up

Sorry, one of the wires was "out" of the EGR Multi-plug or the Multi-plug was just out of the EGR Valve? Either way that's not good - have you been able to confirm/deny the EGR's operation?

The EGR Valve and Glow Plug Heater circuits are linked on these vehciles which is most likely why you're getting the pre-heat light coming on when it runs poorly however the main heater relay pack is a timed unit which can also cause similar problems and so should be checked and ruled out during any diagnostic process. In most cases, faults on this engine are down to either blocked EGR valves resulting in poor operation which can be resolved by simply cleaning during routine maintenence or with the timed heater relay pack (This is why you should take cars like these to a specialist to be serviced as they know "Oil and Filters" are not all that's required on engines like the K9K).

Unfortunatly, when a stuck/sticking EGR goes un-noticed over long durations it eventually knocks on and stops the position sensor being able to perform its job properly and this part you cannot buy on its own... dealer only part and only as a complete EGR Valve Assembly at around £160 plus the VAT. You'll also need to pay a diagnostic fee for "Adaption" which IS needed to and can only be done on decent kit, not a "Code reader".

one of the wires was out the multi-plug, when that wires in the engine has a deeper grunt off it, and has full power, then when the wires out that grunt goes away and its not got full power, anyway iv got the wire to stay in, but sumtimes the light comes on, the grunt goes away, its revs up to 1200rpm, few mins later lights off, grunts back and engines running fine, ill try giving the valve a good clean, see how it goes. if not il get a diagnostics done on it, if its the egr ill just buy one moneys not an issue if it means the cars fixed

You really should get the multiplug checked out to matey and if needs be, have it re-pinned cos it won't be helping at all.

If you're anywhere near Nottingham gimme a PM and i'll come help you out cos i'm a Renault Trade Partner and can get you a genuine EGR assembly for a fair bit less than retail and can adapt it for you to (For much less than the £67 + VAT a dealer will want) ;)
