Starting Issue 182 Cup

Hi,

I am looking for some advice from my fellow 182 owners.

I have a Clio 182 Cup In Inferno.

I've owned the car for the past 9 years. its always had whatever it needs.

Yesterday it developed an intermittent starting issue.

The issue is:

The car works perfectly fine. When it starts it can drive and go for any distance and be fine. and when it starts i don't do anything different to when it doesn't start

But intermittently, I will unlock the car, go to start it and it just turns over constantly and wont fire up.

The immobilizer light goes off as usual and there are no lights on the dash.

I am a little stumped as there's no reason for it to not start and when it does starts it works fine.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thank you in advance

I had this issue on my Cup last year. I did end up replacing the TDC sensor but before that I undo the 2 bolts holding it on and gave it a light rub over with some wet n dry on the sensor part. The car started every time after that

Thank you for your reply.

Its good to know you had success with this as that is my job for the weekend, take out the sensor and clean it and hopefully that will fix the issue

If you have no luck cleaning here are the parts you will need.

If you don’t have the revised loom on your car already then you will need to below too.

Check the three small relays in the engine bay fusebox and swap them with one another, they go faulty where they still click but dont operate correctly/reliably.
