1.9D Misfiring

My Grandad has a 1999 Mk2Ph1 Clio 1.9D and called me today and he said its misfiring on 1 cylinder.

I have no idea about diesels so just wondered what this could be, initial thoughts are plugs?

Also, can I use my RSTuner to read the fault codes on this car? I have a generic fault code reader if not presuming this has the standard OBD socket?

Diesels dont have plugs.

Unplug the injectors one by one to isolate which cylinder is missing.

Could be injector or a commpression problem.

Yes it has the 16 pin diag socket under the ashtray and your fault reader should read the fault codes.

Cheers will try that, i meant glow plugs in my op.

It will probably go to the garage but wouldn't hurt for me to mess about first.

Unless the misfire is only on start up, theres a slim chance it will be the glowplugs.
No, it was after he had been for a run, on the way home.

Car is rarely used though, probably first run for over a month and probably another month before that since it last went out.
