bought my lcd tv 12 months ago - 1080, and never looked back! Only problem is it only has one HDMI port, which can be a little annoying. Suffice to say, the extra cash you fork out you'll get back in viewing pleasure in years to come
Ive just bought the Sony Braviva KDL W40 2000 stunning tv!shop around for about 850quid FULL HD 1080p , also the new Tosiba HD player 200 quid Bargain!!!!!!
leon
It is out already and is noticeably better. The W2000 is a bargain at the moment though and a thoroughly capable TV.the new sony 40w3000 should be out soon, as the 2000 is being replaced.

At that price it should be. There is a 70" X series for 25K which must look awesome. Yet to get a demo version at work though!Bravia X3500 is good too
Unless your telly is bigger than 50" then 1080p is pretty pointless.
lol.. just about
Okay not completly pointless but its all to do with the streching of pixels. The reason HD is needed is telly's are so big that the standard resolution was looking poor when stretched to display on a 42" telly.
I dont think 720p to 1080p makes any real visable difference on a 42" or below.

i agree been there done that
comparing them to pc game is a fare point but your making it badly mike
yes 640x480 looks awful when its on a 17" 19" 20" screen etc etc but on a psp does it look awful or your ipod video ?
the bigger the screen the higher the resolution needs to be hence cinema's use film its much higher quality than can be acheived by digital at the mo especially 70mm film !
small screens dont need the extra resolution unless your sat extra close or have better than 20/20 vision

^^^^^^^^True, but it's still 1900 nicker, and i dont think it's over twice as good for over twice the price of the 40W2000 imo, you do get 3 HDMI inputs tho which would be nice!
Toshiba EP30 or EP35 player for you HD DVD's at 200 and 269 quid is a great price , so don't get the xbox elite if you already own a normal 360 , just get a VGA cable and when they start making the games in 1080p your already sorted!

We just ordered LG 50" Plasma and Pioneer HD DVD player. The DVD player also has USB and SD slots so we can put downloaded film on to a pen drive and watch which i think is cool.
