16v Clutches

Which ones would you recommend?

As it turns out that the renault ones are just valeo ones that's what I thinking of getting at the moment. I've also had the GSF R5GTT clutch recommended though, anyone used these before?

Can anyone tell me where I can get a valeo clutch without paying over the odds?

Ive had no probs with it.Its a bit snappier than the standard one but hasnt slipped yet and ive given it a hard time!

iv had the GSF uprated GTT one a few times (never gone on me btw) and its been spot on!

gets the power down fine, but they are very on/off!

currently using one with over 200hp in my clio with no problems at all!!

The GTT one does sound good in that it's reliable, but I don't know what it would be like in the on/off sense. I won't be running any more power than standard but just want to make sure the clutch would be reliable enough and don't want to pay too much for it.

When you say it's on/off how extreme is it and is it quite difficult to live with in an everyday car in traffic etc.

well when I first had one it was hard work! but I got used to it, and when i had other 'new' ones they felt exactly the same!

so basically my leg got used to it rather than the clutch loosening up.

traffic is a bit of a pain, even now!

if your running a standard 16v id just go for a standard one pal!

Get the standard one I had an uprated one and it was terribly heavy plus it failed in a few thousand miles due to very poor build quality. The stock ones fine upto over 200hp.

yeah I think I'll go standard as the 5gtt one sounds like a bit of a pain unless your running more power. Does anyone know of anywhere to get the valeo clutches cheaper than renault? (other than ebay which I'm keeping an eye on)

Could someone also tell me how much a standard clutch is from renault, as my dialogys aren't working for some reason.

from general traffic the valeo part is £79.87= vat
at renault is around £150
they are both the same ..... but if the renault one fails they will replace it for free and fit it by trained renault technicians.... i know their s**t but thats why its more

thanks mate, do you how much is the reconditione one from renault is, where you have to give them your old clutch as well? IIRC it's about £65 +VAT but I'm not totally sure.
