172 12k Service for £130

  MERCEDES CLS AMG

All they do is change the oil and filter - top the levels up and take it on a test run. The book rate is 1.2hrs - the mechanic can do this service in about 45mins.

Work this out -

filter £6.00 // oil £15 // consumables £5 // mechanics hourly labour rate £8 - although the dealership charge you £40 - £60 an hour labour !! The profit they make on these services is unbelievable - i spent 2 years as a workshop controller for a Renault franchise ( CALEDONIA RENAULT ) and i know that these prices are a rip off - thing is you have to have em done to keep the warranty valid. I know a lady that lives in dover - she can catch a ferry and have the service done at a dealership in france and then come back to England and it works out cheaper than getting it done at a UK Renault dealership - Explain that RUK

You dont need to get it serviced at Reno, though some people will argue it looks better when you come to sell it!

That price is from Benfield Renault in Kendal. Its a family run dealership, and from my limited dealings with them, they seem to understand customer care and satisfaction!

That is cheap compared to our 12k service, as was £210, however the bill was £500 at the end of it, so yes i would say £130 is cheap.

My bill from renault was £160 for the 12K service.. which I thought was shockingly expensive for what they did.

Course, I had to spend about 30 minutes on the phone convincing the woman in their service department that my actually needed serviced at 12k miles and not 18k

"Ooooh ive never heard of that before.. are you sure ?"
"Yes dear... im bloody sure"

j3ned no disrespect but you arent just paying for the techs time, you are also paying for the service advisor and parts guys all of whom have a part in the car being serviced along with money going towards the dealerships overheads. The Rent on the site and upkeep on big shiny buildings is immense. Also its not the case that you have to have the car serviced at a main dealer to keep your warranty.
