172 cams question

Does anyone know if anywhere has decent cams for the 172?

What else would I have to changed if I got fast road cams

As far as I know, couild be wrong, both K-tec and bb performance tuning are testing some upgrade cams for the 172. The french company "Sommaire" includes new cams in one of their throttle body conversions.

Im not entirely sure what youd have to change, Id have to bow to BenR on that one. But Id imagine it depends on how serious the new cams are, if you go for high lift cams youd definitely have to rethink the valves and valve springs etc. you might even have to get new pistons or have the current ones machined to prevent them fouling.With any cam conversion, new vernier pulleys are a good idea to help dialing the valve timing in.

main problem is lift and rpm limitations with the hydraulic lifters.

You wont have to change anything so long as you dont go to wild.
