i want my car cammed, but ktec want like 600 pound to carry out the work, is it worth it, is it really that difficult that i must part with 600 notes?

Depends on if the cams are from blank or reprofiled.

Blanks cost more than having a set reprofiled. Do they fit a chip too or any kind of mapping?

the cams are 688, fitted they are 1378, thats with new cambelt and remap. seems alot to me, id love the turbo conversion but its like 6000 fitted. theres gota be some cheaper options for me.

Tuning Renault sport cars isnt cheap FACT

Cam are expensive, but do show good gains especially when matched with ITB or other mods.

With out going for cams, you options are, Matched inlets, decent induction set up, Remap. Then mods to make the car handle better such as coilovers. Ect

Why do you want more power? do you want to go faster? If so Track day learn how to drive the car fast. And take all the weight out u can

The cams alone are £600odd as said, some manufacturers are more (Schrick) and some less (Piper) and some around the same (Cat Cams)....All depends on the suppliers prices obviously too...

On top of that you have fitting, which is a cambelt off job and quite a bit of labour. so you may aswell have a new belt kit fitted while its all off, as mentioned (and included in ktecs 'fitted' price). Realistically you're looking at £1000 at LEAST, then the price will vary depending on how much labour the place fitting them is charging.

After all that, you will need to get it mapped so its running properly, best part of £300-350 gone there. Unsure if thats included in Ktecs 'fitted' package though, it may well be.

It could be done cheaper, if for instance you've only just had the belts changed, or if you got a set of second hand cams.

I got my Schricks very cheap as I did a favour for someone in removing them from his engine and refitting his standard items, but If I was having to buy them new I would have not bothered parting with the best part of £800 for the cams alone.

Cams work best in conjunction with other mods. On their own a lot of outlay for not much poke.

Better putting the grand odd together and save for a supercharger.
