172 Cup cut out under braking in snow

I posted a lot recently, but that’s because my Cup is 21 years and 130k old. Here’s some more….

I’ve just driven home and it started to snow. It’s sticking a bit and as I drive close to my home there’s a layer of fresh snow. I feel a little understeer and it’s obvious I have to be careful. I’m driving at about 15mph and I try the brakes (a gentle press) so there are no surprises when I reach the junction. Except there is a surprise! The engine cuts out. I was in third gear when it happened and when I came off the brakes the engine restarted. WTF?

I’ve just done a shift and need some sleep so that’s probably why I can’t get my head around it at the moment. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it cut out?

Low RPM and maybe the wheels locked and engine stalled?

Yeah I expect both front wheels locked and engine stalled, it would have just bumped started it self when the wheels started rotating again.

Yeah, I agree. Without ABS, if it is in gear and the wheels lock (they did) it'll stall. I'm glad I found this out now. At least I don't have to buy more new parts lol.
